Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? As an ex Nexus 5 owner I'd be wary about buying one of these 2nd hand due to the high failure rate of them. Even Google don't have replacement stock for them any longer, they just give refunds for under warranty for failed phones.

I bought mine more than second hand two years ago and it's been great. My wife's is a year old (second hand) and that's been great too.

Just like anything I suppose, you take your chances.

Just like anything I suppose, you take your chances.

You do take your chances, but the power button issue is an exceptionally common fault affecting large numbers of devices. Knowing this now would be enough for me to never want to go near one as a 2nd hand device with no warranty.

Having had several of these (have set up almost all of my family on a Nexus 5), I think they are still one of the best value for money phones. Maybe we've been lucky but none of the 5 have had any faults...and 4 of them were second hand purchased off TradeMe.

No power button issues at all.

A few months ago I would have agreed.

There are now phones such as the Vodafone Smart Ultra which are vastly superior at a cheaper price. Apart from the camera which isn't as good and screen is only 720p vs 1080p I'd actually opt for the Vodafone Prime (which I've been using for the last couple of weeks as my primary phone) over a Nexus 5 simply because the battery life is amazing compared to the abysmal battery performance of the Nexus 5 and it's under 1/2 the price of a 2nd hand Nexus 5 for a brand new handset.

I'll be tempted to get a new Nexus 5 when they come out, if rumours are to be believed it looks like a very nice handset.

Depends what you want in a phone I guess. I've had a play with that and it's a great phone for the price but the butter smooth Nexus 5 still does it for me. The battery life depends on usage but I've never had any issues on custom ROM's. Not sure about default. Nexus also gives great flexibility, easy to root and so on. Plus I don't like capacitive buttons. Unlikely that the Vodafone phone will get Android M anytime soon either. Anyway, sorry don't want to hijack the thread :)

Good alternative choice though for the original poster :)
