How come I don't see reference GPUS sold in NZ, i feel like my new build would benefit from the gpu with the reference blower.

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Best bet would probably be to import one, man. Amazon or Newegg will ship it internationally, but you don't have CGA coverage. Although Amazon's support is fairly solid, I've heard.

Are you looking at water cooling? Otherwise, aren't the "non-ref" coolers built to cool and overclock better?

Probably looking at a small mini-ITX or micro-ATX build or just a case without much airflow. The non-ref cards have better cooling, but they blast a lot of the hot air into the case, if it's small that'll increase the overall average temp of everything by a bit. The ref cards blast all the hot air out the back, which keeps everything inside cooler, while causes the gpu to run a bit hotter. Though tbh I'd still go non ref if this is the case, the temp difference isn't usually that big and the ref cards are difficult to find here
