I have recently been to Houston and on the way back bought 5 Bose QC35 headphones which I ordered from here from Dell website.

The intention was to give a couple to friends but they could not wait for my return.

I now have one Black Sealed QC35 headphones (possibly two), will provide receipt copy from Dell for warranty purpose (if it is valid internationally).

They both are sealed and I don't have any White ones as we are using them.

I have paid $350 USD and looking to get what I paid for if possible which is around $450 to $470 mark.

Damn. I made a mistake.

I went into Associated Audio today to try on a pair and walked out with a pair, there was no way in hell I could go back to my Sony's.

How much where they there?

Aussie is still the cheapest place in the world to buy them. NZ$400 - $430 or so depending on how good your negotiation skills are.

They are 580 to 599 in nz most of the stores and usually no negotiations on them. I think my brand new ones with receipt are a bargain for 450 ish.

You're correct here. Even with my "Staff Discount" at places like Noel Leemings and JB HiFi I was only able to wrangle around $30.00. In the end I purchased from the most expensive place (Associated Audio) since I consider it more of an investment at this price and their support is excellent.

JB had one day mates rates sale and picked up QC35 for $431.

That is impressively good pricing. Take it from me, my deal (from my employer) is Cost + GST + 5% which worked out to $522 from JB HiFi or $538 from Noels. I paid $596 from Associated Audio only due to their excellent service (and also, they were brutally honest to me when saying I don't "need" these headphones and could go with a cheaper model (the soundlink), I just wanted them).

Noels were also out of stock at the time I checked a couple of weeks ago across Wellington and still seem to be that way.

So, if anyone is thinking of purchasing some impressively good headphones take it from me - just do it as the OP does have a very good deal going here.

stocksp: how do they compare to the QC 20s?

Wireless, rechargable battery (with impressive battery life) and also upgradable firmware via their app which may bring HW EQ settings (Bose seem to think so in the near future) along with other features. The app at the moment is lacking however but appears to be in the early stages.

Noise cancellation is second to none (same with the QC20's).

A con however is it doesn't support APT-X but this may be added in a firmware update. Audio quality is really top notch however.

Bluetooth performance is excellent - can have 2 devices connected at once and can select between devices with voice prompts by sliding the Bluetooth slider.

Honestly the best Bluetooth headphones I have used (and I have used many) and a worthy investment.

I still find it amazing that pricing in Aussie is so much cheaper. The best price I've seen advertised in the last few weeks was A$379, and if you're traveling out of Australia you get your 10% GST back.

Big retailers seem to be willing to take 15% off which brings them down to A$424, save GST and it's down to A$385

If NZ retailers are paying over $500 they should really be asking why.

@michaelmurphy I have the MDR-10RBT and QC25 and thinking of selling both and getting the QC35. I know the NC is good, as I have the QC25 but I AM concerned about sound quality (I am a bit of a headphone nut) compared to the Sony? I'd accept a small downgrade as I actually don't use the wireless bluetooth that much, but a major downgrade wouldn't be on the cards.

@sbiddle my wife is going to Australia in a fortnight, where did you see them at $379 or know where I can get 15% off?

Keep an eye on ozbargain for deals.

@ajobbins got 15% off the $499 ticket price at Myer just by haggling with them. Some Myer stores have got down to $399 previously.

@kharris will be stoked if they do this.

I am not an audiophile, however even I can tell the difference between aptx and non-aptx headphones. Sound (dialog especially) seems crisper (not sure I'd that is the right word) and for things like watching TV, the lag is massively reduced with aptx. I'm surprised they can add it with a firmware upgrade; I was under the impression it was a hardware solution but I've just checked and software codecs are an option.
