This is a strange question and I am not sure if I am just going to throw the projector in the bin or not, but I have an InFocus LP735, which the three colour LCD's are out of alignment, I suspect the whole LCD component needs to be replaced but am unsure how much that will cost, and if it is worth it over getting a whole new projector.

Any thoughts or experiences from fellow GZ'ers on this?

Never taken appart an infocus projector, but I did do a toshiba one a few years ago that had been dropped...

If it's a dichoric/LCD projector it might be fixable, but if it's DLP you're probably looking at a bin-liner....

What part of the country are you in?

I am in wellington. Below is a photo I took this morning showing "sort of" the problem.

As you see one of the colours (Red?) is out of alignment on the left hand side, moved by (up on my wall) by about 1cm or so...

Happy to let anyone take a look at it, but don't really want to spend any sigificant amount getting it fixed if it is going to be big $$

Arrrr...

It's not consistent across the frame, so I'm guessing it's the re-combining prisim thingit (I don't know the exact term for it!!) has taken a bump off-axis...

Should be fixable if you're keen to take it to bits, or can find someone with an interest in it... Do you understand how they work, that's the biggest step in fixing something like that, so you can recognise the bits when you get the lid off it!

I'd offer, but I'm just south of CHCH, which makes the frieght a bit of an issue....

Is there a forum on here for 'Remote assisted repairs' We could do it via digital photos and forum posts. :-).

Argh, I might talk to a mate, I'm sure he mentoned "infocus". If not I have worked a lot with similar things (fixing tiny digital cameras) so could take a gawk on his advice.

Probably better off opening it up and seeing if any prisms/lcd's have come loose from the glue/screw springs or just replacing it. Remember the bulb is probably a fair way through it's life so porbably not worth spending cash on.
