Hi everyone ..  I got given a Gigabyte B150 LGA1151 board but the I5-7400 I purchased wont work (from Trademe). I checked and the person who gave it to me was running an I7-6700 and does not ever recall updated the BIOS and has sold the CPU on trademe.

So I need a 6th gen CPU from this list (F2 BIOS) to flash the board - https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-B150M-D3H-rev-10#support-cpu

Anyone in Auckland, peferably the shore got one I can borrow for a day or so to flash the BIOS ?

Yeah I saw a few on trademe but they don't finish for a while and I will have to resell them when I am done so my "free" motherboard might end up costing me real money money-mouth

Interesting .

I had a similar issue with a mobo i wanted to buy from PBtech. It supported the new cpu's but only with a firmware update (not mentioned on pbtechs website either).    I asked pbtech if they could upgrade the firmware before I purchased, but, they wanted money to do that.

Years ago I got a board from Playtech and they were very apologetic and upgraded the BIOS for me by opening a retail CPU which I am sure was a pain for them (this was LGA1155 2nd/3rd gen stuff I am still running) .. I guess some retailers have different definitions of customer service. I am sure if I got the CPU from Playtech they would help me out but I got it from a trademe deal 2nd hand out of Wellington.

I have got an i5-6500 one you can use temporarily to flash your board so you can get your kaby lake chip installed. But its not for sale.

Im in Auckland you can pop in and flash the board at my place if you want. Let me know if you are interested.

must vary from store to store or how lazy to salesmen is

My cousin bought a mobo and cpu from the pbtech in henderson, went home didn't work because of incompatibility due to bios version.. went back to the store ready for war only to get the response "oh sorry about that we'll update it for you"

sorry OP, I dont have a CPU that will help in your case
