Hi All,

Does anyone have a Hobby City discount code :)

I want to make a sizable purchase.

Cheers

I'm not a complete idiot, I still have some parts missing.

Have you asked them if there are any sales coming up or if they can offer you a discount on your purchase, directly?

Which hobby city, there are many

Hobby City Ak ? they have discounts for some RC Club's members
Otherwise, local RC hobby shops dont do discount codes (that I know of)

One of the more expensive RC shops in NZ btw, look around for better pricing

I have historically brought most of my hobby gear (RC buggies / fpv racing quads /parts etc) online - i.e. BG, GB, Ali.

Several $k spend over last 4 years - and pretty much without issue - and often significantly cheaper.

Post of course takes longer ...but I click buy, "forget" about it...and you get a nice parcel some 2 - 5 weeks later... :)

PS: I do understand the buy local mantra - but some of these purchases would have been anywhere between 30-100% more if done locally - so yeah nah...

need to factor in the risk of being ignored when it comes to 'issues'

BG : ignored all my correspondence re a RC Plane that arrived broken. BG's 'shipping insurance' is a scam. After 4 years I wont buy from them again
Various Aliexpress & ebay sellers selling goods that arnt in stock, forcing me to start a dispute process as they wont refund .
Aliexpress seller giving me a fake tracking number because out of stock so couldnt send.
GB now allowing other sellers to use their website, causing real issues when stuff not sent
Being expected to send stuff back to China in order to get warranty (they now most wont bother due to costs)
Anything with a batt can get rejected at the Ch border (had that happen many times)

I just accept sometimes I'll loose money buying online, but long term it works out much cheaper overall than buying locally
Some local shops are getting cheaper, just to try & compete with Ch sellers
:-)
