5loth: I have a cheap Xeon Quad Core/16GB RAM/Server motherboard combo for sale a few threads down the page, and also have an entry level HW Raid Controller I can sell (IBM M1015).

The key for virtualization is enough RAM and fast storage. You MUST have write back otherwise performance will suck (unless using ZFS or something).

Metal cabinet with lockable wall panels and door (same key fits all, there are 2 keys.). Door has perspex window. H = 1950mm

If you search that model number I posted before it should give you a link to the Cable Ways site. Just walking out the door or I'd do it myself. Cheers

Hey again,

I also have a couple of 2U cases I could let go.  One has an AMD mobo + CPU + 12GB RAM, currently running WHS 2011 with 8TB of disk.  Rock solid stable (but I need the disks).  I also have another case of the exact same type, but with no other hardware.

I think they are both Supermicro too ;-)  But I forget the model number.  I will PM you pics along with the 1U stuff.

If you are really keen, I also have a 4U case with dual Xeon CPU's.  I am sure I could do you a good deal on the whole lot :-)

Couple of things to consider:

HP Microservers are fantastic, especially when PB put the older N40L (which is still great as a FreeNAS box) on sale.

I have a great RAID card if you want one (HP P410 SAS with 512MB FBWC) going on TradeMe at the moment:
