LennonNZ: 404: http://www.websms.co.nz/edit_account.php

I sent myself one and it came from 6421766xxx not +6421766xxx

the popunder (or popovers depending what browser you are using are very anoying)

I can try and activate my number twice and it says
Your message has been sent to 021766xxxDuplicate entry '21766XXX' for key 2
Already present in database, please contact webmaster.
and it sends the SMS again!
and I got a 3rd activation email for some reason again..

I can try and verify numbers which are not mobile phone numbers
I can find no way of removing numbers

The edit account part is still being worked on, part of the features in it I cannot release right now, will be available in a week or so.

You have already activated the number, hence why you received the error, I will output the error a little better, I have Hased the rest of your number in the "Duplicate Entry" you may want to do the same. Basically if you hadn't received it, you have the option of sending it again, however it shouldn't try put it in the database again, and if it were already activated it should tell you... I will fix this.

Yes you can attempt to verify numbers that are not yours, however you will need to know the verification code in order to activate the phone number for sending.

The popunder/popover is the method to which the SMS/TXT is paid for, if you don't like it you will have the ability to send messages by paying for them, or use your cellphone. The service has to be paid for somehow and this is how you're getting free messages.

I will be adding a method for removing numbers soon.

Nice work, is the site running its own SMS gateway?

No, we use SMPP with multiple partners.

patatrat: Not too much information on that site. No privacy info or terms and conditions that I could find. That is the number one fault that will stop me from signing up.

It is funded by pop under ads, another minus in my book. My opinion is; if you are displaying ads, display them in the browser. Don't try and control my browser by getting it to open new windows.

There is no contact info on the site either (not even a form to ask questions). Another minus from me.

The site mentions paid texts, but doesn't (as far as I can see) offer any pricing.

Use a adblocker Wink

What a great way to ruin/destroy a free service.

I assume that you do the same here on geekzone. I do not know about websms, but MF makes his livelyhood from geekzone. This is turn, gives us free pizza, supports his family and provides a great resource for all of us.

By using an adblocker, you are potentially ruining a great company, person, family and startup. You could always suggest that they provide a paid premium service, without adds, just like we do here on geekzone.

If a ratio of adblockers hits 20%, then we change the way we send texts, rather than sending your text in the non popup window, the text will only be sent in the popup window, so these people would make it even more difficult for general public to send messages and like the next post, if you want premium service, it will be available in the next 2 weeks or so.

such a cool service. please release this as a free iPhone app because other countries have lots of iPhone apps like this but none for new zealand. you can still have ads in the app.

I have an iphone myself and would love to, however I have no knowledge of programming on the iphone, nor do I have a developer account, so if you know anyone keen to do it, I'd be happy to hear from them.

Phil (redjungle) did the mobile version of this site, and is pretty savvy with the iPhone.  Get in touch with him, top guy and easy to work with.

I would have called out a copyright violation as the site looks copied, but when I looked on the WHOIS records of the domains names the contacts are both the same. :)

Looks like a good service - well done! NZ needed something like this...

Going a little off topic, but a pretty good statement :) but then again our hardware and connectivity is expensive :)

Incase anyone tested this using Internet Explorer and it didn't work, it's now working, there was a piece of javascript that IE didn't like, this was reported to me this morning and just been fixed.
