There are still none around after last Friday - so I would be surprised if PB had some (and if Apple see this, probably even less likely).

Also the iPad2 at $4?? + GST - could be $499,+ gst which is $573.85. Not that big a discount. They won't have too many of those either I wouldn't think.

The run-out on the KDL40CX520 looks OK. Sony must have put all those old models with them.

Yes an no, as many people buy computer stuff as a home business purchase.

But a TV is usually only a home purchase, as it would be difficult to claim that as a business expense, unless you were doing presentations on it...

I dont mind it as most computer shops are ex GST. IMO any online store should offer pricing both ways since its only a calculation that they have to do when spitting out the prices.

I really object to it as I feel it's deceptive advertizing. Most countries in the world it's illegal to do this on retail advertizing but I guess with NZ cowboy culture in business anything goes. I', surprized that the house and car industry haven't cottoned on to this loop hole and advertize their cars and houses x GST.

I don't have a problem with it is the wholesale or business area..

Wonder if we will ever see jobs advertized as $60K plus tax?? I don't think so.

My other pet hate is retailers who set prices that are not rounded to the nearest 10 cents as that the smallest denomination that's legal tender. This $19.98 sort of pricing really pisses me of..

Most countries in the world it's illegal to do this on retail advertizing but I guess with NZ cowboy culture in business anything goes. I', surprized that the house and car industry haven't cottoned on to this loop hole and advertize their cars and houses x GST.

how much have you travelled? your view sounds somewhat naive. If you buy a plane ticket anywhere, you get hit with additional taxes - departure fees, security taxes etc. If you buy stuff in the USA, the price you see on the ticket is *not* the price you pay. You often get hit with 3 or 4 different taxes at checkout. My hotel in houston last week had no less than 7 different taxes and levies added to it. If you buy (or sell) a house in many countries, you get hit with "stamp duty".

But if you are a business, or you buy it for business use, then all you pay is $99. But in a way I agree with you, in that if the company selling stuff isn't mainly catering for business users, then it should be inclusive of GST.

What annoys me more is companies with a website that state the price, and only in the small print on their website footer, or in their terms does it state that the price excludes GST. The price should clearly state + or inc GST

PB tech sell to several audiences:

* wholesale
* business
* education
* end users
* geeks

I typically buy as either a wholesale or business buyer, so showing prices with gst inc would my preference.

Something PB tech do have, is a "GST Inclusive" checkbox in the preferences on their front page that causes all prices to display as inc gst. Its not the default option, but easy to see and easy to set. So if you want to see GST inc prices, set that and quit complaining;)

n.b. I note that their specials banner image on the web home page shows *both* prices and the GST inc price is still pretty big and readable.

While I do agree with the your argument I really do think you're picking on the wrong target here. PB are very clear with their advertising around being exclusive of GST and generally show the GST inclusive price on their specials.
