jtbthatsme: Fast in what regards??? Fast in putting things onto the seedbox or fast at transferring things from your seedbox to your pc? As I'd think fast to your pc is pretty much all about what internet connection you are paying for.

terms of to your pc, peering and such can come into it too.

fast is really in the eye of the holder though.. quite a few people will have their 100Mbit box, and be happy with it. while others will jump up and down that their 10G (or falsely advertised, 2G depending on host!) box isnt fast enough.

Actually no. I've never used Plex and although I've seen it mentioned in a hell of a lot of threads I've never bothered to really look up what it is lol. Although from the posts I've read I'm assuming it's a media streaming service of sorts that seems to be very good and very compatible with a lot of devices.

Now my 50" Plasma although is not that old does not have any smart capabilities and I run a HTPC and anything I add to my SB is downloaded straight to that as I prefer not to stream content and suffer buffering every now and then depending on how well my ISP is going on the day.

I was literally wondering what I asked. My ratio on my private tracker is well over what I've popped on my SB with over a +11 with over 8.5TB uploaded as I started off with a 1Gbps SB but shared with a friend but I've now dropped down to their cheapest offering (50Mbps) which is still doing the same download speeds to my pc at all times since I am not living anywhere that I can get anything other than ADSL1 and I tend to leave a lot of my content on the SB for quite some time to share the love (and keep ratio high as have a 1 - 1 requirement for my tracker site).

Seems like a painful way of doing things. But I guess if you had a low cap you could cherry pick what you want to watch.

I have a 150 gig cap (had more at times and less at times only just bumped it up to take care of some steam content good old humble bundle strikes again lol) and like to collect the content I watch (TV series mostly) as I often go back and watch them). I don't see the point in streaming content from a SB if you're using it for torrents and lets be honest most are then getting caught is the same either way.

If I wanted to use a streaming sevice I'd get Netflix or Hulu but why bother in going that way when using the SB i get to give back to the community, keep and share what I like with whoever I like.

Ultimately when it comes to cherry picking I get too much stuff to watch most the time have a backlog of over a TB of content to watch at my peak was watching approx 15 - 18 weekly shows. All this whilst trying to squeeze in movies, gaming oh and better not forget the family (5 kids and a partner lol who's now pointing outI should include the stepkids too making 8 between us).

Yeah I was just thinking for Plex - if I wanted to watch something on my iPhone or iPad instead of via the laptop or TV would it be fast enough to transcode / stream to the right size and/or format.

Netflix is an option but by using UnblockUS to get Netflix I would then break TVNZonDemand and then I would have to deal with wife wrath.
