This might be the first time ever that I've 100% concurred with networkn. The pile on in this thread has at times resembled bullying. Totally uncalled for.

There’s a difference between a robust discussion and a bunch of people repeating the same point over and over like a bunch of Stuff.co.nz mob formerly upvoting or downvoting people. If people were so concerned about the rules violation (which I doubt), they could have reported the post to a moderator and left it at that. This especially when one might reasonably expect that the OP might have subscribed to his own for sale thread, so people were just spamming him for no reason.

The repeated pile on neither added anything nor were those posts “funny”, as some people seem to think.
