So I've got Google Maps installed, but I've noticed that it can be quite data hungry. It chewed up 100kb in a couple of seconds.

Does anyone know if you're able to download a map set, like for NZ like you can with Nokia Maps? That'd make it a great alternative to Nokia Maps as far as directions are concerned, as its free.

No I think Google maps is an online only app.  Normally the first call is pretty hard on data, but it does store that page in cache,...so next time you start it, if you're at a similar location it doesn't need to download it again.

I'd double check about the caching - when I played around with Google maps on my N95 it didn't appear to cache anything and so I switched to Nokia Maps pretty quickly!
