I ended up buying the Tomtom XL 340 from JB Hifi in Botany Town Centre Auckland.

Shopped around at Norman Ross first and they were prepared to match Harvey Norman's $349 price (theirs was around $549), then went to Harvey Norman but they were out of stock and not getting any more. JB Hifi's one was $355 but they also matched the Harvey Norman price so got it from there considering I had bought a few other things from them in the past and was happy with their service. All the shops did offer the free Aussie map and I'm sure DSE did as well.

I guess most places are willing to be flexible price wise, within reason. If DSE won't match it, I'd try other places.

Does anyone know how I'm supposed to email the receipt to them to claim the maps?
Filled the form in.. complete with reciept number, store etc... click ok.. then it went to a terms and conditions page... no buttons nothing.. can't reply to email sent with password as it tells me not to reply.

Or am I missing something? I want my OZ Maps! and shouldn't have to post my receipt the old fashioned way.

Terms and conditions says

"(iii) input the requested details on the claim form including full name, address and email and; either upload the scanned version of the purchase receipt and submit the claim form, or submit the claim form and print off the second confirmation email of their claim and send with their original purchase receipt to ?Christmas Bonus Map of OZ? Promotion PO BOX 47013Ponsonby Auckland 1144. Claims via post must be received by last mail on 18/01/10. Claims via online submission must be received by 11.59pm NZDST on 14/01/10."

But I can't upload the scan.. as there was no option to do this.. I can't email it as there was no email address to email it.. so.. I'm in a infinite loop now.. Oh.. and no second email for confirmation of my claim.. so I don't even know if its worked. I can't re-register as I can only register once with my email address.

Anyone else had this problem?

I didn't even know you could upload and scan. I just printed the email I got then will photocopy the receipt from JB Hi-Fi and will put it in the mail. Not planning on going to Oz soon so I'm in no rush.

I'd be curious to find out if anyone else came across the problem you're having though.

I assume someone needs to physically look at the submission then send a secondary email... either that or they have the slowest email server in the world (though the first email came through nearly instantly).

Reading the leaflet further there _should_ be a secondary email.. though it's still MIA.

The site gives no indication that my submission worked...

I had a bit of trouble getting my map update when I bought my TomTom One. I rang the TomTom support line, and they told me to scan & email them my receipt, and gave me their email address to send it to.
They then made available the map update for me to download.

From the TomTom website:

New Zealand 0800 450 973 Monday - Friday: 09:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. NZT

Strangeness further abounds... Got a response and have now loaded new map (from what I can tell) under the '30 day Map Guarantee'... Oddly, I have awaiting download Maps of USA and Mexico which I have not paid for (haven't loaded it or downloaded it).

I got an email at 1:57pm from TomTom

I had problems with the 30day latest map deal. Turns out it knows the first time it was turned on and works from there, so if anyone in the shop got it out of the box for a "play" then the counter starts from then.

I just emailed with a scan of the receipt got the update the next day.

Just called today, note on my file re: OZ Maps.. it can take two weeks to process.

Apparently the USA and Mexico maps are mine, free.. complimentary from TomTom since my trouble updating to the latest maps under the 30 day map guarantee. Thanks TomTom! That's brightened my day somewhat.. now just to find money to go there ;)

Yup... large file which must be downloaded via TomTom home unfortunately... 1.6gb approx... 7 hours to go... But I'll be a patient lad for once!

After lots of question submissions and sending copies of my receipts, finally got my OZ maps. Hurray.
So be prepared to fight for the maps and you'll eventually get 'em. Stupid redemption's!

do u mean you have to send the receipt to the physical address? they do not accept the scanned version of the receipt via email?

The email TomTom send to give you the details on how to redeem the map is a bit confusing, because they say you can either post the receipts or reply to that email with your scanned document, only to mention at the bottom that you can't reply to it since it comes from an unmonitored mailbox...

After struggling a bit with their customer service via the 0800 number (the first guy I spoke to had no clue about anything), I finally managed to get it sorted via their FAQ Help pages on their website. I told them exactly what was happening, so one of the guys asked me to scan and attach the receipt through. A day later he replied saying that all I needed to do was plug in the GPS to my PC, log in to my TomTom account and click on the update link as they had sent me the download through there.

Got my map all sorted out now so I guess if you don't want to send the details via mail, you can still get it done electronically..if you get someone there who knows about the promo!
