Could someone please advise this total non-geek about Snap?

I've never heard of them before.  Are they good for the simple things in life like downloading movies and on demand TV?

Are they reliable and do they have decent customer service?

Thanks

short answers, yes, yes, and yes..

I been with them over a year now, and have just gone to VDSL with them, any problems I had they sorted out real quickly, and make everything as painless as possible...

They are generally a very good ISP. Their customer service is very good - you generally get through straight away most times you call them. They no longer unmeter TVNZ on demand, but I don't think anybody does anymore. Unlimited YouTube for $5 per month is a great offering, though a small number of people have experienced slow throughput of YouTube videos (buffering). I'm with them, and currently out of contract and see no reason to change.

Thanks Guys

So Snap it is.  Now I have to persuade my even ungeekier other half that VOIP will work.  I still have the Linksys/Cisco SPA2102 from when Xnet was affordable in "rural" areas, but am looking to use the smartphones too.  They're both pretty basic (Huawei Vodafone cheapies) so which app do people recommend?  I hear that 2talk can have up to 5 smartphones connected.

Cheers

Good thread because I'm thinking of switching from xnet. Xnet is costing me fifty to sixty dollars more than snap would be for the same thing. Trying to decide wheather to keep VoIP with xnet and go naked data with snap or just switch everything to snap. On xnet I do max out my dl speed...is snap good at throughput?

I use CSipSimple on my GS2, runs very well

On my HTC One-X it has SIP built into the phone, as will quite a few ICS devices in future. So i run it natively on that device

Sorry have to ask but what is SIP I know from what I've just read on google linked sites it's a phone thnigy but are you saying your using this through Snap with your cellphone or through 2talk???

Reason I ask is I'm considering the same move to Snap but current;y have VOIP through XNET and although I have no problems with Xnet I am just not sure if I want to drop the phone line as well as I don't really see the point in paying $20ish for something that I maybe have less than 20 calls a month too and from.

Does anyone know of options for VOIP through Snap do they simply not do it or do they offer it and I'm not seeing something on their website.

Lastly for those of you who have swapped from Xnet to Snap were there any charges as install charges as Snap lists that at $200 and that's would equate to 6 - 12 months worth of savings and pretty much make the whole move over to them rather pointless.  I currently only have NDSL and want to change but fear that I will get the oh we need to reprovision you rubbish and get charged for it where in reality there is no need to reprovision at all it's a choice they actively make and charge you for.

Well I use the SPA2102 hooked up to Fritzbox VDSL modem, and have no troubles at all running my old Panasonix phones :) :) - also using the fritzbox that snap sell you I found out I can use the builtin wifi and have my android cell phone talk to it (using snap data this way, so not using any data on my sim plans.. :)

Yep I'm on Naked and generally very happy with the performence with them, I am a keen PS3 gamer and find gaming to be good with them online apart from BF3 which gets a bit of rubber banding (lag) but I blame EA's dedicated servers for that.

Customer Service is good too, you can't go wrong with Snap. :)
