How long does it normally take them to install it? does anyone know what upload speeds i'll get on fiber? Lincoln rd area, Henderson.

and the type of router i'll need, i've been told I can use just any standard wireless router with RJ45 wan port, and use pppoe?

Also the reliability of fiber compared with adsl, can any comment on this?

Installation time will depend entirely on when your area is ready. Just because the microducting is installed doesn't mean the area is ready to go - it has taken several months in many areas once initial work has been done before the area is ready to connect.

Upload speed depends entirely what plan you sign up for with your ISP, and the type of router will depend entirely what your ISP will let you use or gives you.

Ive noticed green spray paint on some of the grass verges down our street, i'm assuming this is where they will start digging?

Also from what ive heard, it will be possible to order upto 4 connections to 4 different ISP's from the same house? as the fiber gives each house about 4 ports?

I guess all streets will be different depending on the length, what services are already buried and so on.

On the street I live on, the contractors located all of the existing underground services and then dug a hole at the crossroads on the verge at either end and thrust the duct down under the grass verge. Unfortunately it didn't go quite to plan and the duct clipped the top of every sewer pipe serving houses on that side of the street - so it was an extra 3 weeks of roadworks misery as they dug huge holes to repair everyone's sewer connections.

I have an order in and will hopefully be connected on August 20th so will post how it goes.

The ONT has 4 ports. Each port is able to be used by an RSP like Orcon.

Welcome to the joy that is rolling out a network portunus, I am sure many in wellington still recall with warm joy the Saturn build. Its going to be messy but thats life.
