Hi, can anyone recommend me a phone compatible with Orcon Genius, preferably from here? I was reading back through some old topics and apparently I need a phone with DECT and GAP. Unfortunately, I can't find any mention of GAP in any of the specifications sections. Cheers.

I have the Uniden phone (XDECT7015P1) listed on that page and it works perfectly with Genius.

The base set plugs into Genius, the other handset can be placed anywhere you want in the house.

Hi,
We are using Panasonic KXTG6612 DECT phones with our Genius but have chosen to sync all the handsets to the Panasonic base as it has a far better feature set than the Genius. For example the clock will not show in standby on handsets connected directly to the Genius  but work fine when connected to the Panasonic base.
The genius unit outputs caller ID etc so the Panasonic unit can display the calling parties name if it is listed in the handset phone book etc.
When we first hooked up to Genius the message waiting indication worked placing a symbol on the phones display. Sadly this function has ceased to work although we do get the stutter tone and email.
My recommendation would be stick with Panasonic as I have tried several different Panasonic handsets all of which have been able to sync with the Genius.

If it doesn't fit. Get a bigger hammer!

This thread has got me thinking, does anyone know if you can connect other handsets to a genius lite? or is that only available on the full genius, reason i'm asking is that we already have 4 cordless phones and we don't need more if we can help it.

A DECT phone that supports GAP is compatible with any other DECT base station that supports GAP.

The worst phone for standards support is Uniden - they are also NZ's biggest selling cordless phone brand.

The Genius lite has no support for DECT handsets however you will be better served using your current base unit. Not as tidy but you get more features..

Plug it in, just like you plug it into the wall socket now :)  It's that easy.

But I mean, will any phone work? :) I was under the impression I need a DECT/GAP phone for it to work... but no? I promise that I am usually not this illiterate technology wise.

Any analog phone can be plugged in to the Phone port on the Genius Full and Genius Lite modems.

The Genius Full also has a built in DECT base unit to which you can pair additional phones, but you don't have to use it.

HTH.

I went to buy these from HN.
http://www.harveynorman.co.nz/panasonic-kx-tg1613-cordless-phones-triple-pack.html

The guy there said that obnly one they had that worked with Genius was one at $299 with only 1 hand set.

I understood that any Dect handset\base station would work.

Anyone know if the abouve will work with Genius?
