hi all
does anyone know how i can get Orcon Genius to work on a non Genius modem?
i switched to Genius a while back and since then i haven't been able to play Arma 2 online or any of its mods (including Day Z) due to Battleye timing out. i got orcon to update my firmware, but that didnt work.

i have my old modem from when i had orcon purple, plugged it in, but it wont connect to the internet.

i have tried everything and concluded that the Genius modem is the problem, so i want to try my older modem to confirm my suspicions.

thanks :)

I'm pretty certain Genuis is all EUBA PPPoE VLAN10 based. If it is a legacy PPPoA connection it isn't going to work unless the legacy VLAN is also configured at the Orcon end.

Genius is PPPoA

You could follow the instructions here http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=82&topicid=112419 to grab the DSL password (different to the SIP password, at step 3, search for "DSL") and try that one in your old modem.

I'm not sure, but Orcon might use a randomly generated password for DSL & SIP, rather than 'your' password that you use for my account/webmail

Ahh my bad, I thought at one stage the plan was to use PPPoE.

thanks for the replies

turns out orcon forced a firmware update to the latest firmware onto my modem which is whats causing the issue. and it cant be reversed without bricking the modem.
i will try your suggestion nickb
if that fails ill just switch providers, had enough of these guys
