I have finally had UFB installed at my place so far I am getting rather good upload speed but download is a bit off at the moment but something on my network has a lot of activity going on so I will wait and see. Big shout out to graham and Paul and the other chorus guy (sorry cant remember your name) they did a real awesome job walking me through how the technology worked and all the steps of the install which is cool when you are a technically minded nerd like my self. And shout out to orcon as well for sending a second genius modem which made setting up easy as and had me running in no time. I will post speedtest results once it settles down

My Speed wasn't great because orcon have put me on 30Mbps instead of 100Mbps i am on phone to them now on hold will hold back speed test results until i get this part sorted.

The ETP Bloody gas meter in wrong place haha it not even being used

The ONT Which is now behind my desk with my iMac and genius and phone on desk ignore the big pile of ethernet cable that was used when i had ADSL as there was only 1 Phone jack in the house which was a mile away

The ETP before the yellow fibre was blown through the black wire is just there as a guide so chorus could locate where it was on inside wall inside house. They sent a signal through it which was read by a handheld receiver that told them where is was it was then removed and yellow fibre pushed through where is was spliced outside and then packed away.

Before UFB on ADSL

Just after UFB install

as of now

I have called orcon and they say i have to call back to get changed to 100mbps as i need to speak to there accounts team kind of stink considering i told them that is what i wanted at signup and countless calls with orcon saying they will call me back with empty promises and I am still waiting to hear back about what they are going to do to reimburse me for all the mucking around they have put me through maybe i will have to call them back to remind them.

So for the 30/10 plan those speeds are about right considering its in KB/s.
Not the 100 you were after of course.

Maybe you can tell me why mine is so crap as well. often (tonight 9:40sh) it is as bad as dial up. I wish I had stuck with my old copper now.

?? For the speedtest just after installation the figures were 5347 /4532 in KBps. By my maths thats about 42.7 and 36.2 Mbps -- pretty good for a 30/10 link - not so good for 100/50!

the 'now' figures were 3467/1208 KBps which equal 27.7/9.67 Mbps .

Rung orcon today apparently there was a mistake somewhere with my connection that I was put on 30mb instead of 100mb connection and that they had to send out a tech to fix it. I thought it would have all been controlled via a computer not a manual adjustment

Am I the only one confused. The speedtest results "just after UBF instal" give results 42.7/36.2 clearly above the capability of a 30/10 link. The "as of now" results of 27.7/9.67 would be absolute top of range for 30/10. Is this not a poor 100/50 link or has it been downgraded since "just after UFB instal" ??

yeh you're confused, it's in kilobit, not kilobytes... he's getting more like 3 or 4 megabit.

yeh you're confused, it's in kilobit, not kilobytes... he's getting more like 3 or 4 megabit.

Sure, but the current plan is 30/10, speculation about why it was higher is just that, speculation. There no evidence about what is going on at all.

I've never seen speedtest list in kilobytes? why would they go from kilobytes to megabits?
