My wife is on the $29 pay monthly plan. The 50MB of data is a bit restrictive for her now (she has an iPhone) so for a while I put her on data sharing with my phone on a 1GB plan. But I was finding my data being consumed at an alarming rate!

Toyed with the idea of moving her to prepaid on one of the $19 packs (probably the 50 minute/500MB plan) but she actually uses her phone to make calls and 50 minutes would not be enough.,

Anyway while reviewing plans I noticed that 2D now add a complimentary 500MB to the $29 plan for new customers. I called them and asked given she had been on the $29 plan for over two years now, would they give it to her. And they did without too much persuasion from me.

So the moral is, if 2D upgrades a plan for new customers, they don't need much persuasion to give that benefit to existing customers either.

Now my problem is how to get more data on my phone. 1GB of national data is not enough for me (I am on the $39 plan) and I don't want to spend $20 to get an additional 1GB of 3G data. Alas there doesn't appear to be any other option.

Theres the $99 for 12GB over six months option

It doesn't actually save you too much as you're still paying $16.50 per month but you get 2GB of data as well

The one drawback is that its 2D coverage only

I wish I'd noticed this before. At the moment I'm using the 3Gb pack which on a monthly basis effectively gives me 1.5Gb at $25. Based on your figures above the 12Gb pack would give me more data at a much lower cost, and being a six month term it would also be less cost sensitive to variances in usage from month to month.

I knew about that but I only want about another 500MB so it's not a good value for me anyway
