Dear Snap!

From a prvious post i've learnt from an implication that snap has got plan to offer ufb for hamilton in Q2:
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=90&topicid=114460&page_no=2#

Given that we are almost into Q3 of the year, are we now in a better position to forecast the big show time?

Personally i really like snap and would like to stick with them for my ufb in years to come, but don't know how much longer i have to wait and when my patience will run out! Got the cable laid in front of our house Oct last year.

Regards,
Clyde

Hi guys

The great news is that we're in the process of commissioning the Hamilton handover with UFF at the moment.

Our first trial orders should be placed by the end of the month and assuming all go well then we'll go live during July.

Cheers
Ralph

Would this include Tauranga too?   If not, any indicative date?

I'm not sure how it works -- do you just need to sign a contract with UFF to provide service to customers connected to their network? Or, is there location specific equipment required?

It is curious how you can beat telecom to the punch when they have thousands and thousands of employees and technical backup. Good work!!

billgates - DM us your details as we'd be interested in talking further.

surfisup1000 - cheers for the feedback! We're working through the rollout plan for the balance of NZ right now, so hopefully we'll have a better idea of Tauranga in the next week or so. Regardless, plan is to be close to 100% UFB coverage by the end of the year.

RSPs need to make quite a big commitment to go into each of the LFCs Candidate areas. This is why you'll see only a few national providers with 100% coverage, and a bunch of smaller more regionally based providers. Once we're in the specific area, the end user contacts Snap and we manage the process from there.

Cheers
Ralph

Will Snap setting up a UFB handover with UFF see any other snap infrastructure in Hamilton? eg snap peering at HIX in the hamilton tower building, or a DSL PoP? (if the latter doesn't exist already).

I got a call from Snap just now to signup for the UFB trial in Hamilton. First customer for Hamilton :-)

Signed up to the 100/50 plan. Was told that should be up and ready in 7 days but more than likely it will be quicker than that with UFF folks coming in for a install hopefully sometime this week. Already have a fritz!box 7390 with VDSL connection. Excited.

It appears they are moving more slowly than they have stated.

Yet, still faster than Telecom with their 10,000 employees.

If people are in Hamilton or Tauranga and want UFB now you can DM me your details and we can supply you. We deal with business only but can feel the people on Geekzone forum having having UFB ready address and few choices.
