Tried signing up a week or so ago and couldn't , so sent an email off.

This was the reply:

"Thank you for using Slingshot's Online Help.

Unfortunately we do not have the capacity to sign up any new Max Wirless customers so we do not have any installation promotions at this point."

Anyone have an details why their capacity is "full"??

Because they only have one WiMAX site that doesn't support many users?

Maybe ...I would of thought multiple sites http://www.slingshot.co.nz/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabindex=999&tabid=23&SubNav=2 .....far better your reason, than any other reason that may spring to mind.....

We are obviously not as important as Paratai Drive

it did not make the front page of the herald....

I wonder whether it has to do with CallPlus dumping their existing 802.16d gear supplier and moving towards 802.16e? Maybe they have made a decision to simply not spend more money on upgrading something that will potentially be replaced?

It could also be because their WiMax service was set up before unbundling was passed. I think they may now be concentrating on trying to get naked dsl based services which i think would be cheaper to provide than wimax.

Oh, but LLU is supposed to promote competition and variety of services, so it wouldn't be that its cheaper to piggyback on telecoms copper then to build your own network at all. Has to be another reason ;)

yep could be true , but for me the other reason for going with max is that I am on a mini-dslam (2Mb/s max download) muttter mutter
