Has 2D made a 4.2.x firmware available for the Galaxy S4? It's been around since June but nothing via Kies or OTA, still on 4.1.2.

4.3 due out for international models later this month.

Interesting.....

My 2D S4 that I bought about a month ago upgraded itself to 4.2.2 soon after I got it.

Odd. Tried searching for update via the settings, says it's the current version, tried using Kies, said no update available.

Totally stock device, bought from a 2D store.

Would put a generic version onto it other than the fact that the Snapper functionality is kinda useful.

Pretty sure 2D released 4.2.2 in april/may, and released an update to 4.2.2 I9505XXUBMG4 in august.

Interesting.  That is the one I have.  If you need me to make a dump Stevenz, please send me a PM.

Also on a slight tangent to the original topic, you mention that the Snapper functionality is handy.  Every time I ask the 2 Degrees shop if it works they swear that it doesn't.  Are you talking about using a Snapper SIM or just the app?

Using the phone _as_ a Snapper "TouchToPay" device. - Their website still says that the functionality is "Coming soon", and doesn't list the S4 as a compatible device, so brickbat for being so out of date.

The Snapper app from the appstore works fine with an existing Snapper card too.

Looks like it is in fact on SamMobile so may have to give that a crack.

Hmmmm, if I was actually taking the bus regularly I'd push the shop to sell me a SIM.  If this changes I'll have to try to convince them to sell me a SIM.

Steve, can I just confirm that your S4 has full touch-to-pay functionality to use on buses/pay for stuff etc? And if so, how recently did you get it?

I ask as I have a 2degrees Galaxy S4 with a 2D micro-sim and I can only get limited Snapper functionality - i.e. it will read or top-up a snapper card, but it won't act as a touch-to-pay snapper device/retain a balance etc. It tells me I need to upgrade my phone to a 2D snapper SIM.

I got mine in April when it first came out - just wondering if that makes a difference. Come to think of it I'm using the micro-sim from my now deceased s3 (which worked fine as touch2pay on Wgtn buses) though I'm pretty sure I was told by 2D that the S3 sim is no different to the S4 sim - though wonder if that remains the case.

For the record I contacted both 2D and Snapper today but as per usual confusion reigns - neither the 2D store nor the Snapper call center knew what was going on, trotted out the official line of no support then each directed me to the other...

So, you do have a snapper SIM?

Edit: Check this out. http://www.snapper.co.nz/my-phone-has-nfc-can-i-use-snapper-mobile/

Thanks yes I've seen that faq along with their published list of supported touch2pay and as noted above I have a snapper sim and my current limited functionality consistent with that table as my s4 is not on their phone list.

Hence my interest in an s4 user stating greater functionality. Come in Steve...
