What's with the $7.50 late payment fee 2degrees.
Sometimes I may my account late by a couple of days as I am waiting til pay day. Very rarely though.
You want to apply this to my account then I am out of 2 Degrees as soon as my contract is up. You go right ahead.

It may just be me but I believe a company charging a late payment fee is perfectly acceptable.

On the plus side consider yourself lucky, Vodafone charge $10 and Telecoms is around $15 last time I checked.

Not sure who you plan to go with instead of 2degrees to avoid late payment fees.

Maybe prepay is a better option for you if that's your approach to paying your bill?

I don't have a problem with it.
If you paid on time you wouldn't get the fee.

It's not different from the many companies that give a 'prompt payment discount' IMO but weirdly people seem to have no problem with that.

Ways to ensure you pay on time:
Direct Debit
Automatic Credit Card Payment
Automatic Payment

Or, paying it before the bill is actually due.

+1. The fees are there for a reason, a reason which you seem to be exercising. As the quoted user said, you can go right ahead and change company, late fees will still be there.

Don't expect to find any sympathy or support here. Geeks know everything which means they never make any mistakes such as late payment, and they don't like hugs. /s

I think with Telecom its actually closer to $20 because you pay GST on it.

Be happy with your $7.50 and perhaps budget for it in advance. Was this not mentioned in your contract as well when you signed it? If you weren't happy with late fees why did you sign?

Also you'll find that not just cellphone companies charge late fees. ASB charged me $15 once because I paid the bill a couple of days late, due to laziness. Its one of those things you come to expect.

I think companies would be happy enough to lose customers who don't pay their bills on time.

I don't have a problem with late payment fees however they should be coupled with early payment discounts.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Pay it out of the previous week/fortnight pay or put the money aside out of that pay if you havent received the bill. 2degrees do tell you on your login how much you have spent over and above your plan charge.

Welcome to life.

Late payment fees are an incentive for you to pay on time. It costs a lot of money to chaseup deadbeats who don't/won't pay what they owe.

You'd be up in arms if you didn't get paid on time.

Set up a weekly automatic payment for 1/4 of your monthly charge. You won't be stung with a late payment fee if it's paid.
