(Have tried asking on here 2degrees Facebook support thing, just keeps asking me to connect my Facebook account, can't submit my question)

Have bought the wife a new iPhone for Christmas, requires changing to a nano-SIM.
If I get the new nano SIM card before Christmas Day, will I be able to activate it on Christmas morning?
Otherwise what's the best plan, as obviously will want to use new phone on Christmas and Boxing Day.
Do the SIM swap over the phone on the 24th as late as practical?

Cheers,
Joseph

Just call on the day the 25th and request a SIM swap over the phone, The CRM platform is not worried it's Christmas day and can still do SIM swaps

I can see how this would pan out:

"You are number #2956 in queue, your call is important to us, estimated wait time 3 days, 49 minutes."

Ta, I had hoped there would be humans there to do it, but just want to be sure. Might still do it on the night of the 24h, don't have any service at home so won't be losing any functionality overnight.

unless you want to run the risk of a miserable Christmas and ruin other people's Christmas ... don't even think about it ... of course there is every chance it will go smoothly, but from my experience if you think there might be a problem, there will be a problem!

Just cut it down real careful. Especially easy if it was already a microsim. I've done it about half a dozen times without incident. Worst case you mess it up and do the SIM swap you were already planning on.

actually take it back. for some reason I thought you were porting numbers (I'm pretty sure there's another thread going on about porting a number on Christmas day! let me find it ...)

when I got my wife's mirco->nano sim ported it took 15 seconds to move

If you don't want to cut it down, grab a nano to micro/mini adaptor (off Trademe or similar) and do the swap pre Xmas.

Work colleague and I got our 2degree and Vodafone cards swapped to smaller ones today, took all of about 1 minute start to finish as our numbers weren't changing. Phone number provided plus security check and we were done, no cost either.

Yes the call centres operate on Xmas day. However I wouldn't expect their to be any data specialists working. Sim sap will take two seconds to go through provided to can get through to someone quickly. Perhaps if you call at 5.00am you might be able to sort it quickly.

Interesting peoples expectations on what is available on Christmas day, no offence meant but maybe a sign of the times where we all expect we can get most things when we want them as opposed to needing them.

What a nice, thoughtful, forward thinking hubby you are! ;0)

Our Care team are available 24/7, 365 and swapping a SIM over only takes a couple of minutes once you get through.  If the number/acct is in her name you'll need to be authenticated first.

I'd advise picking up a blank NanoSIM at a 2degrees store or Dick Smith, Harvey Normans or Warehouse Stationery as soon as though.

Cheers and Merry Christmas!

Thanks for the confirmation. I picked up the new SIMs yesterday :)
The young guy at your Queen St store was very pleasant, but unsure whether the call centre was open on Christmas Day.

Cheers,
Joseph
