Hi all.  Just spoke to Orcon CS about time to etablish ADSL account with Orcon and I was told it takes 10-15 days.

Can someone run me through what is involved with ISP change when there is an existing active DSL line. Don't you just change the login and password on your modem and away you go?

More to changing ISP than just changing user name and password in the modem, Far from it

Reprovisioning of the VLAN handover that's assigned to the ISAM port, or possibly jumpering of a new ISAM port. If you're in an ULL area it's a compete rejumper from CHorus gear to Orcon gear.

ADSL/VDSL these days is a complete layer2 bridge using VLAN back to your ISP. It's just a simple matter of getting a new username and password.

There is also time to open an account, credit check etc as well as the tunnelling and physical connectivity, cpe shipping if required, number porting etc. Much of the time is to allow supplier SLA's to be adhered to so that a predictable RFS date can be quoted allowing for all the above to be carried out.

yeah, moving from UBA to UCLL takes a while.
If you are just moving from Chorus UBA to a different Chorus UBA then it takes hardly any time. We have had quite a few people getting transferred on the same day we request it with Chorus.
