I'd like the Fritzbox 7390 to assign my PC the same IP all the time so I can set up port forwarding. I've added a device, given it the name and Mac address, but it says the device can't have connected yet. It's my main PC, and I have another I could use, but it has connected already. So in the Home Network/Network area it shows the device twice, once with the DCHP address (which is the one Windows sees), and underneath it the same device name/mac with the IP I want - but it uses the dynamic one.

Is there a way to get the DCHP to give me PC what's basically a static IP? Or should I just assign a static IP in Windows?

Screenshot - with mac addresses and computer names removed sorry. It's the one labelled "computer 1". Notice it appears twice, with two IPs, I want it to have .10 but it gets .26.

Overview > LAN (this is the page your screenshot is on) > Click EDIT icon right side next to the device you want.
TICK "Always assign this network device the same IPv4 address".

Assign static in windows if you wish.

That's not quite the answer. If I did what you suggested it will get a IP assigned, the .28 IP, but not the IP I want, which a bunch of devices around the house have hard coded.

When I gave the computer a static IP the .10 in that page showed up as active. I deleted the old IP. But when I put the computer back onto DCHIP it got a .28 IP.

I think maybe I just have to assign a static IP for now. I don't want to because Astrill has a bug that resets the DNS servers to automatic, which is why I switched from a static IP to static allocation in the first place. So I still would like to work it out.

Assign a static IP, go to that page and set it to always use that address, then you can revert the PC back to dynamic.

Its also easier to do from a PC that you are NOT changing.

I struck the same thing, you have to do a ipconfig /release Set the static, then renew.

Either the PC is requesting the wrong 'perferred' dhcp each time, or the fritz release table doesn't let it go. Took me a few goes to get it to assign what I wanted.

Thanks, but doesn't seem to work, I've done it a bunch of times, both with no static allocation set up in the Fritz and with one.

can you not set your dhcp range to be above 10 and then just assign the computer the .10 as a static address??

Ah that'll be it - .10 is outside my DCHP range. Well that was stupid... thanks for the tip, I'll try it out when I connect back to that network :)

Ah no such luck. I change the DCHP range to start at .8, used "add device" to add the computer by mac including it's name (from another computer), plugged it back into the network, it was given the .8 address.

So I changed the range to start at .10, after setting the static IP to .14. When I set it to auto it went to .11.

So now I'm on a static IP and I think I'll give up, for now at least.

I set up some address reservations yesterday, and they're working fine for me. They're even outside of the DHCP allocation range.

Here's how I did it:

Go to Home Network > Network.
Hit Add Device.
Enter the name, MAC and IP for the device.
Hit OK.
If the device is already known, you'll be asked if you want to overwrite settings. Hit OK.
In the network device list, there should be a new entry under Idle Connections for the old entry. Its name will start with "PC-". Delete it.
On the device, force a DHCP release and refresh. The reserved IP address should be assigned to the device.

I've got 2 PCs assigned static addresses this way. Fritz!Box 7390 with OS v6.01.

I'm on 05.51, I wonder if that makes a difference. The UI I have works slightly differently from that.

Nope. What everyone is mentioning here was the same for me on that version.

It's to do with the allocation table not clearing. Mines outside the DHCP range, and fixed as the above mentions. It's a matter of just coaxing the reserve to 'stick' vs it want to dish out the previous allocation to that MAC.
