Hi all,

An FYI for anyone using a Roku 3 to view Netflix via Unblock Us.

Unblock Us have report Roku update v5.4 has hardcoded the google DNS server 8.8.8.8 into their software and this has stopped Netflix using the manaully entered Unblock Us DNS addresses.

To workaround this they have suggested blocking 8.8.8.8 so the Roku times out and then looks for another DNS address (The Unblock Us DNS addresses).

Why this is posted under Orcon is because I wanted to share the steps required to configure the Genius router that isn't posted on their router guide list.

http://support.unblock-us.com/customer/portal/articles/1523907-solutions-for-region-issues-with-roku-and-netflix

(Having previously set up a Roku / Unblock Us / Netflix, I will assume you have a healthy level of tech knowledge and finding your routers home page is a simple matter)

Once logged in, go to:

5. Advanced Settings (along top bar)

8. Applications (down left side bar)

Under 1. Routing settings, add:

Network Address
8.8.8.8

Subnet Mask
255.255.255.255

Gateway
192.168.0.1

They suggest Any valid local IP other than the router itself. But it has worked ok for me. (192.168.0.1 is my router).

Should look like this:

Click Save and do a ping test to make sure it returns "Destination host unreachable". (No restart required)

If you see response times something didn't work. You may need to edit the gateway IP and choose another. (printer / iPad the roku itself)

Should add this is a workaround, may not work for everyone and may break someone's specially designed network.

Just hoping this helps a few of you out there with the same problem I had. :)

# Really hope those pictures display correctly. Apologies in advance if they have been compressed too much.

[Edit] Updated table formatting.
