Dumb question for the day. I live rurally and now have ADSL available so Flip are installing next Wednesday. However because I've been on Scorch to date there is no copper in my house just ethernet. The copper cable is coiled up outside. My question is, who runs the cable to the inside of the house and presumably an ADSL port needs to be installed? Who does this? The impression I have is that the connection on Wednesday is done at the exchange only?

Also all my internal ethernet ports are connected to a network switch which is connected to the Scorch router. How will that work? Will I just connect that network switch to the ADSL router, or connect the router to it?

Told you it was dumb!

Hi, did you explain this to your ISP when booking the connection? Will pay to ask them what they are doing on Wednesday else you may need to arrange (or they may arrange) a connection i.e. that bundle of copper to be connected to your house via an ETP/Demarcation point and then they takea lead from there to your jackpoint where you can plug in your ADSL router.

No doubt there will be a fee for connection and wiring.

Hey vroom - get in touch asap.

Sounds like it's non-standard so we'll need to double check a few things.

We're open 7 days, 10am to 7pm.

Yes I did email but the response was to make sure my side of the wiring was good to go. I'm just not sure what my side of the wiring actually entails. Will ring, thanks Scott.

Installed a DSL jackpoint (although it's an ethernet jack - confusing!) on the inside of the house backing on to where they ran the copper in from the outside. Router is plugged in to that, then apparently I can plug the network switch into the router for the house ethernet jacks - haven't tried that yet, will have a go later, but in the meantime using wifi. Hopefully the network switch works too, but at least it's up and running.
