My Wife and I have on occasions when ringing our Son who is a 2degrees client residing in Kawerau, BoP, have been answered by Spark, "This is not a recognised number"
We both have 2Degrees phones, why is Spark getting into the 2Degrees system when ringing into Kawerau, it does not happen very often, but should it be happening at all ??

Or perhaps your son has setup call diversion to an invalid number?

I don't know a truly accurate figure off the top of my head right now but a large proportion of phone calls in NZ pass through the Spark network at some point, even if they're not from or to Spark customers. The simple reality is that not all networks have direct interconnects, so traffic is routed via Spark to interconnect these calls.

There are many possible reasons why such a message could be played - but the first is to establish who's message it is. Why do you think it's a Spark message?

To really get to the bottom of this you will need to raise a fault with your provider (2degrees in this case, I'm guessing).  There are all sorts of reasons this could happen.

Hi GRaymond

Get your son to check if there's and call forwarding set up and dial #21# to deactivate any call diversions on his number.

If it's still an issue please pm us his name, number and 4 digit PIN for authentication (if poss) so we can look into it.

Regards
^POB

Thanks for all the replies, my Wife assures me it as Spark and last year when I had the same problem it was Telecom ??, wife also tells me she had a similar problem when ringing Daughter in ChCh (also on 2degrees)

Will check with both Siblings that they have no "Call Forwarding" to Spark numbers.

The reason for putting the query on this Forum was to see if others have had the same problem, a bit like Googling for a problem before jumping down a dealers throat about a faulty appliance
