Just received an invite to a media briefing this Monday 23 March "to announce a major development regarding the future of the business."

Will keep this thread updated but you can obviously speculate :)

I will start the rumours: they finally bought a fixed line ISP to move into that area.

Snap? That's been the rumour since some time in 2013 I think

There was speculation about buying an ISP sometime ago. To remain competitive and bundle offers, they at least need to partner with one, but would make sense to buy one. I wonder which one it could be, I have my suspicions. ISPs seem to hang around in the hope to be acquired, which is really payday for them.

Don't mind if I do!

2degrees bought out by Skinny. Spectrum being used to roll out a shiny new EVDO rev B network, complete with WAP portal and a range of Blackberry devices.

Oh wait, you wanted sensible speculation?

Edit: Not as fun when three of you swoop in while typing surprised

Skinny is just another brand of Spark though, and would take things back to a duopoly. Having a Triopoly has helped bring in at least a bit of competition to the market.

"A major development regarding the future of the business" sounds ominous to me. Are they being bought by someone? Shutting down business? Changing business model because of losses?

Or am I the only one that think that was worded in a less than positive way?

yep agree.  If they were buying somebody - like Snap,  then I'm sure they would say something like  "an EXCITING major development" or something like that.
