Hiya,

Wondering if anyone has successfully done this on the hardware mentioned?

I understand the vlan tagging, bridge aspect but i'm not sure if the fritz is actually in bridged mode or if it can be done.

I am assuming, i need to leave the fritz in "connecting to dsl line" in order to establish xdsl connectivity.  Removing account information from the fritz to be supplied by Mikrotik (configured as pppoe client) and have even removed the vlan and vpi/vci info from the fritz (and left with) im not having any luck with authentication on the Mikrotik, often just left in a state of "connecting"

So i was hoping if someone can confirm that I can achieve this, or is there a limitation with the fritz ?

Not sure if you can with VDSL but it works with fibre as you can use the external modem or router option and then The mirotek, which was supplied by Truenet, works as i have all Lan connections plugged into it and they all work.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Ahh ok, the Fritz has other options similar "external router" but that option disables the dsl synchronisation side of things which is no good :)

I think they removed the bridge option from the firmware of the 7340\7390 quite a long time ago.  Perhaps it's also missing from the 7490? Not sure why, maybe because it's intended as an all in one device and not worth supporting bridge mode - it is a bit of an expensive device to just bridge anyway?

^ I would have thought so. I'd happily swap it for a Draytek DV130!

Not sure if its possible with that device and dsl, I have a mikrotik device as my gateway/firewall for my fiber and it works great.
fritzbox is just in client mode doing my phone line.

Sorry not what your after but hope you find something

An old thread but someone might find it useful.

It is apparently possible to achieve full bridge mode but there is no WebGui option to do so.  Older firmware had an option available which has since been taken away.  The latest beta firmware still has no option despite some comments on other forums.

To put into full bridge mode....

1. Log in to your fritzbox and reset it to factory defaults.
2. Plugin your dsl cable and let it synchronize
3. Plug in your router (e.g. linux box with pppoe) cable on LAN port 1
4. Start your connection and Dial in e.g. linux: pppoe-start
5 Done!

After it's connected you're able to change anything on the fritzbox except for the DSL menu. Just leave this unconfigured, otherwise it will stop the bridge mode.

The information was provided by "foxfoobar" on the whirpool forums (thanks)

I will be giving this a go when my new router arrives (any day now) and report back with good news hopefully ;)
