I had a commercial client's broadband near Mangere Bridge go offline last night at around 9pm.

Orcon helpdesk have advised by phone there is an Auckland-wide outage.  I have no other clients using Orcon to confirm.

I have asked Orcon to update their Network Status page.

Network Status Page has been updated.  It indicates the issue has been escalated to Chorus.  It sounds like the DSL layer is connecting but the PPP side of things is falling over.

Hi there,

My apologies for the inconvenience - as you've noted our network status page has been updated and we've raised this with Chorus to investigate. Fingers crossed we can have everyone back online very soon!

Cheers,

Cam

Thanks Cam

Given the issue started last night, it was a shame that the Network Status Page was only updated mid-morning.

Looks to be a psychical fibre fault between Chorus and our equipment at the Papatoetoe Exchange. We have guys onsite working to resolve the issue.

This will only be effecting a small amount of customers who connect via the Papatoetoe Exchange.

Again apologies for any inconvenience!

Hi Orconers.  Any chance of an update?  Cheers.

Connection was restored not long before 8pm.  Almost 24 hours.  Pretty painful for my customer who runs a 16 hour a day operation.

I think we'll be looking at a 3G failover option after this.
