Flip firmware download?

We have been using a Spark Home Gateway modem for our Flip internet. I have been told I should be able to update the firmware so that when I go into the modem settings it will be all Flip and not Telecom as it is now. I have found where in the modem setting to change the software from a file, however I cant find online where to download the Flip firmware needed.
Could anyone help me with this please?

No. Your modem will forever say Telecom, as it is a Telecom modem.

But it will work on Flip

One of the tech guys at work told me. He said I would be better to have the Flip software and not the Telecom software.
This came about when I mentioned that occasionally when I click a link, instead of going to that page I get a Telecom page about setting up my broadband. It doesnt happen often and when I click the link I wanted again it works the second time.

Flip does not supply firmware for a Telecom supplied modem. Using your Telecom supplied modem is no problem on Flip and should cause no issues, you are free to use whatever modem and firmware you like and it will make little difference. If you don't like how Telecom has branded the Internet experience when you use a modem supplied by them you can go to any retailer and buy a new one, or ask Flip and they can supply a generic non branded one pretty cheaply.

Sounds like you confused what he said. What he probably meant was that you need to change the settings on the router, to use it with flip.

Usually there's a IP address you throw into a browser, to access the router settings (when its wired/plugged in). Try googling for the manual for the device, and that should have instructions for modifying your routers settings. From there, the flip page will tell you what they need to be.

Flip uses Port based authentication, this means a customer can cut over from another ISP without doing any changes to their router, it just reconnects using whatever setup it already had and works as Flip knows its own customer port details. I believe what the OP it talking about is that some of the Telecom routers I have seen present branded error (like 404) pages, and while not at all harmful they can be confusing for the end user who thinks to themselves, hey whats Telecom got to do with my Internet connection. I think the person the OP asked about this was under the funny assumption that ISP's customise firmware for other ISP's routers, which obviously they don't.

Are you sure about that?

Completely sure, I built it. Occasionally the databases don't sync early enough for the port details to be in the system before activation, in this case the real username/password can be entered into the customer router to bring them online faster than waiting for the database sync.

Nope, as long as its got the normal link stuff is there (ADSL/ADSL2+ vpi/vci 0/100 ,VDSL ) and the router authenticates with any old username/password then it will work. If a port is in the database then radius uses that, if not it falls back to the normal username/password. IF someone has hard set the DNS then they need to remove that obviously. So the idea is in most situations we can migrate a user to Flip (voice and data) and its entirely automated, no hands on from the user or Flip staff, just a short outage when the physical re-jumper is done by Chorus.
