I was wondering if someone using MR Fiber could advise there pings and speedtests, im really curious as to how much of a downgrade it would be, im a big gamer so im mainly worried about my pings in battle.net games and cs:go so hoping a fellow gamer can give me a review.

Theres a lot of threads already in this forum but i found most of them to be a few months old and a lot can change in a few months.

What do you care about?

Ping times to particular game servers?  Which ones?  Ping times to your mate's house?  Throughput?

MyRepublic appear to route everything through Auckland but if you're in Auckland that's not going to make any difference to you.

I will never buy services from them due to their overly aggressive marketing tactics.
Their "sales executives" have been spamming just about every sale Facebook group I'm a member of.

Yeah its just they are not been told by company to do such things. Its just they have a pressure to make out to their targets. We can't actually blame company for this thing

I just remember when Whinery was on here he ended up getting slaughtered. I've had a few friends try them in the past which didn't go well however I have no idea what they're like now. They're also CG-NAT by default so take that in account. I personally think 2degrees or BigPipe are one of the better ISP's to be with right now.

Geekzone user since 2010, long time lurker.  I've been active in similar forums elsewhere, and got slaughtered because a few long-term people here were set in what they prefer, and posted factually inaccurate opinions, which got me slaughtered when I pointed it out.  I never left Geekzone, but I have left MyRepublic.

I was product manager, and not the best position to be worrying about what goes on here, but nobody else had ever been active in formus like this.  I didn't go silent because I was run off, though I'm sure some here thought so, and patted themselves on their backs for their hospitality.  I got too busy to keep on the forums, and so left it to those whose jobs it was to stay active here.

I no longer represent MyRepublic, but I was mentioned by name.  So Hi!

Regards,
Marc

You absolutely can. They're representatives of the company, pushing the companies products. If the company can't keep them in line, then that is their failure.

I've been with MR since Jan and so far are very happy and that includes a flawless cutover [including voice port] and ufb install

when my 1 year is up in Jan I'll check to ensure I am getting good value otherwise I have no reason to leave [well except maybe I'd like to see them do IPv6]

Marc was very helpful in my dealings and his posts here, I had no idea he was chased [slaughtered] out of here frown

Hey, I'm in Palmerston North. I would recommend MR. Just got connected not long ago and the internet is still going strong with no hiccups so far.
Latency is lower and stable to servers outside of the country. They provide what they advertise on their website.

I just finished with MR after 1 year with them the beginning of November, I had a number of problems with there service, the customer service I found the worst I have ever had, they would say they would do something and then you would have to continually ring or email them to get it done.

When I joined them the install happened on time but then took 3 weeks to get the new phone they provided setup and working, There connection didn't seem as fast as it should be but I stayed with them due to the 12 month contract.

Since leaving them in November 2nd I was charged for the month of November even though the connection had been removed before the 3rd of November the start of the next billing date, I had contacted them 3 times, once in October to say I was moving away from them and to cancel the connection, I spoke to them on the 5th to confirm that it had been canceled as I had received a bill and just today to find out why I had been billed and to request my money back. The person on the phone had a massive attitude problem and generally told me it was my own fault for being billed and he will email the finance department and I might get my money back in a couple of weeks :(

I moved my connection away from them as it seemed slow, pings seemed to be ok and speedtest.net seemed to be ok but general usage was slow, I moved to BigPipe and wow what a difference, pings are the same but wow everything seems so much faster. I would not recommend MR, for the two main reasons or the speed I got and there customer services people.
