Wasn't even aware my phone was disconnected until I got a visitor saying my phone line is disconnected. This has been happeining way to many times for my liking since I changed my plan from adsl to UFB with slingshot. The disconnections are frequent and I am not even aware of it unless I try and use my phone or someone visits and tells me.

I already know its not my phone, its happened way to many times in the past ..... its at their end.

What I want to do is ask if I could have at least one socket back to how I had it before I joined UFB with slingshot. Not sure what I am asking for.

Anyone able to help me formulate this so I can post it on their fb page. Thanks.

Just want one jackpoint that doesn't rely on any modems or hybrid wiring or ontb, so if theres a power cut it wont affect my phone. Just dont know how to formulate that into a request to slingshot or what to ask for.

Note:- net working so no issues there.

All good restarted my modem, phones working now, still want to be able to use the jackpoint without modem.

So you want UFB for your broadband internet connection but would also like a POTs line for your phone

Sure - just sign up with any provider who offers a POTS service. You'll pay around $50 extra per month for this.

If you don't want to pay extra I suggest you just move to one of the many other ISPs who will happily take your money and offer a reliable service.

Dang.... didn't know what the heck I was signing myself up for. Other then fast broadband service. The constant phone disconnection is causing a real headache for me, and the tier one techs at slingshot are as helpful as an ashtray on a motorcycle.

I've learnt how to change channels from netcomm themselves instead of doing non related workarounds with SS tier one tech.....

UFB plan isn't providing a reliable phone service for me at all. All I know is that the phone constantly disconnects and end up FBing slingshot on their page to let them know my phone line is down and they fix it at their end.

Also, when people call me, I cant hear them but they can hear me. Used another phone and the same thing happens with that. Took both phones to try at a neighbors house, but they work fine there. Will explore my options are seek advice from TDR. May revert back?

If you choose an ISP that provides phone thru the ports on the ONT rather than a router you should find the problems dont happen as often, spark use the ONT ports, not sure what others do since its a landline and most people are buying naked internet now.

I've also not had problems with my VOIP line with Orcon so there's another choice for you

I have the ont and Hybrid wiring, so I have been using the phone first on the NF4v router, then on the jackpoints itself through hybrid wiring.
But even when I had tripleplay150 modem I got the same issues, phoneline disconnecting, or people hearing me over the phone but me not hearing them. Sometimes if I restart the modem my phone will work and I can hear them again.

Wait for netcomm support (remote) to open again and get them to see if they can help. Wait till then. They helped my configure the nf4v in the first place via remote access.

Yea I agree their phone line/Voip service is not that reliable, sometimes the Sip password would change for no reason on their end and YOU HAVE TO REQUEST A RESET ON THEIR SERVER to get the phone back up.
And the remaining minutes counter on their website has broken for god knows how many years now (they have acknowledged it's not working)

Funny how quick the turnaround is when it comes to raising the price (even during holiday period) :)

I've also had a run of problems with slingshot, especially voice

Used to get the random disconnections, those are now fixed but the TP 150 modem is a POS so I bought a NF4V. This works fine except incoming calls get the engaged tone. The slingshot rep on here has been doing his best to sort this out

I think the lesson is to use an ISP that does voice on the ONT, that makes the modem/router so much simpler

It's not so much where the voice is delivered from, but how much experience the company has in delivering VoIP services - it's not straightforward to do. As an example, WxC residential voice services are delivered via the RGW or an ATA, and are rock solid.

If Slingshot told you it has something to do with Chorus then they are lying.

Voip as nothing to do with Chorus as long as your internet connection is working.

Voip as nothing to do with Chorus as long as your internet connection is working.

Thats the thing isn't it, phone disconnects, or wont hang down, or I cant hear the people on the other line, but the net works fine. Slingshot ae going to do a reset now. But really not going to do Jack. Gonna request POTs landline free of charge. Sent through to TDR. SS can't provide a steady landline, reset isn't going to solve the issue permanently. Already put the request through.

oh, I did remote access with netcomm this morning to see if all was good with my modem. They made that suggestion. I called regarding frequent disconnections. Thought my modem might be set up wrong. NF4v.

NetComm Technical Support :May i know how did you connect your phone cable to router, or there is another box connection to the phone cable..

NetComm Technical Support :Hi _______, (sent netcomm 2 links to this forums this post and this one http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumId=81&topicId=159872) I have read it, Unfortunately this unit does not have pass-through, This is just provide a Voip connection, which mean you need to activate Voip connection from your Internet service provider then enter that voip settings into the router then connect ph set to the router for using phone calls..

NetComm Technical Support :In your case you need to talk to Chorus to check how it will work..

NetComm Technical Support :Yes it could be the issue, You need to check with them why this is happening, might they need to change something in wiring..

Just rang slingshot today to find out whats happening with this so called "monitoring" of my phone as my phone likes to disconnect and I can no longer use it only the net..... only to find out they aren't doing a jolly thing, yet I was told by SS resolution that this is a process they were going to undertake and I had TDR involved with this issue as well. Looks like I have to ring them up again... getting sick of this. Been happening since October last year.

Thankfully I always messaged their fb page when I need my phone reset, so they have time/date when all this took place.

Yet nothing has come of it. Back to TDR.

Mind you SS tech was going to request a reset while I was talking to him on the phone. Meh
