After a very rocky start I have been with Slingshot for over twelve months and have recently reviewed my ISP options and decided that they were all much the same overall in service and price. I decided therefore to stay with Slingshot (the package I want is 40GB+Land-line (Fiber installed) and a mobile phone at the most cheapest rate). I am using the modem supplied - Triple Play - but wondered if a more specialized one would offer me a better connection. Can you Gurus out there comment, make suggestions? Thanks.

The wireless side of the tripleplay is not very good, I had to get a wireless access point that offered far better wireless coverage. Also I had a few network issues which come right when I changed to another ISP, there supplied device (The fritzbox 7490) is far superior to the tripleplay and solved all my problems. Can you put another modem on, yes you can, as long as it supports vlan10 tagging. If you have your phone connected to the tripleplay, you may have to plug the tripleplay into a network connection on your new modem just to keep phone working. I think you would need to configure the tripleplay to bridge mode, I stand to be corrected if I am wrong on that.

Please clarify what you are looking for.

Are you telling us that you want fibre with a 40GB data allowance?

I doubt whether such an option exists.

Even 80 GB may not be enough for a light user.

EDIT

see: 100GB is the new normal

Firstly, my apologies for my original post was somewhat incoherent/incomplete.

I have fiber installed and working. My contract is with Slingshot and consists of 40GB+Land-line+add ons(ant-virus). I was wanting to add a mobile phone to the mix and surveyed the various ISPs to ascertain the most appropriate package. All seemed pretty much the same.  I have no real gripe with Slingshot except I get a lot of timeouts and at times it can be frustrating to connection to some websites and they did give me a good deal on my mobile phone

Triple Play is the model of my Modem, no other identification. I run through it my two PCs, my land-line, and my Smart TV. Yes, I have discovered the Wireless network on the modem is crap. Fortunately, all my equipment is in a compact space and I have good connection between each using cable. I am not really interested in having a wireless network. The speed and lack of dropouts on my cables are more than adequate for my needs.

Someone asked for my Slingshot account # - Removed. I confess my current modem has had a hard time and not received the TLC it deserves.

I plead guilt to be something of a Luddite; I don't use social media, I love my land-line, and my networking skills and pretty well non-existent.

Thanks to all for their time and patience.

PM the slingshot rep your number instead of posting it here - your post has it view able by the public which isn't very secure.
