Had Fibre installed in Christchurch on Friday; went without a hitch. The whole process was quick and easy, no problems. The installer was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and very confident.
Install was a small 3m trench from boundary, fibre pulled about 6m under the house.
The speeds are great; a monumental increase from my previous service. As soon as the installer left there were intermittent wireless connection issues; the Slingshot provided modem/router services a laptop, Sky decoder, an iPhone 5C and a Motorola Moto G all within 15 feet of the router. We spend most of our time in the lounge, so we don’t often have any walls between the router and the devices.
Diagnosing the lost wireless connections on the laptop pointed towards not connecting to a DNS server. Sometimes the connection fixed itself, other times a restart on the computer or modem fixed the issue. Over the weekend, the connection to the laptop and my Motorola seems more stable, but there are continual disconnections with my wife’s iPhone. Her total indifference to our internet service has now changed to “WHERE THE HELL IS THE INTERNET???!!!”
My house is 200m from the cabinet down the road.
Optical light has always shown solid green, LAN1 has always been solid green and the wireless does its flickering.
All software and firmware are as up to date as they can be.
I’ve emailed Slingshot, does anyone have any suggestions?
