Hi All

I have been a loyal customer of orcon for many years, have now decided to change to Bigpipe/2talk

I went through previous threads/advice and also on bigpipes FAQ's for changing ISP's etc

I think I followed the correct sequence of steps

The steps I followed

1. I signed up to Bigpipe on 18/10/16 with a future install UFB date 24/11/16 and want to keep number

2. Emailed Bigpipe wanting to keep phone #

3. Bigpipe replied to get confirm date with 2talk for phone# port

Here where the fun starts

4. log phone port request with 2talk, this got rejected by Orcon as the reason given is "The Losing Service Provider specified is invalid for the ported number"

5. Sent my orcon landline account details to Bigpipe, they resubmitted to orcon 20/10/16 and hvent heard back

Does anyone know what the SLA for getting approval is from existing ISP (Orcon)?

Is it complicated because I have VOIP bundled with UFB?

Do I need to lodge a disconnection request from Orcon first, however this contradicts some older threads that I should have a job in the "system" with Bigpipe first prior to giving notice/disconnection with Orcon

Should I be worrying as I dont want to lose my landline #

Regards

Bevan

You don't need to lodge a disconnection (Definitely don't do that!).

Your best to talk to Orcon and see if they know why the port had failed, it might be you need to select another provider option (This usually happens with Vodafone/Telstra/Ihug but maybe Orcon has another option?)
