I'm a bit confused. Chorus just called me asking when is a good time to come around to set up the VDSL. I said to the guy someone is coming to scope out the fiber next week, but he said that's ok and still wants to go ahead tomorrow afternoon. I was under the impression they only did ADSL as a temp connection until fiber is up and running? I'm not complaining about the vdsl itself, but since the fiber is set to be installed in a month anyway this seems like a waste of a techies time to me? Just wondering if something has gone wrong with the order and i need to follow up again?

ADSL and VDSL are the same price, i'd assume they are just ordering best copper product available.

I would not expect any splitter installation, Simply remote activation.

Hi there,

Usually we order ADSL in these scenarios. Flick me a PM with your account details and I'll see if I can find out what's going on for you.

Cheers,

Cam

So it seems the copper wire is totally trashed according to the tech that came today so no internet. Does anyone know if it is possible to escalate the fiber install with chorus or is it a fixed thing?

Sadly "copper is trashed" is not a valid escalation reason. However other people may cancel their fibre installs at the last minute so there may be slots that open up, call your ISP and ask them to check the schedule again.

Sigh....still no internet. What a nightmare. Took a day off work today for a chorus no show and just found out they changed it to the 30th. Ugh. (to repair the copper)

I had Chorus miss a scope appointment Wednesday last week, now they are saying it will be March some time.

Considering UFB is already in the building and there is a spare glass fiber We ordered this first or second week of November be prepaird for a long wait.

Is skinny 4G broadband available in your area for a short term solution?

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Well in theory I should have some form of internet on Tuesday although I will believe it when I see it. Just frustrated that it has been over a week and no one has even tried to repair the line or call to tell me they have canceled an appointment

You words have turned out to be wise. I'm still waiting for Fibre (now April) and they won't even give me vdsl because adsl is what they offer while waiting (even though the house is already wired for vdsl....sigh).
