Myself and a few other people playing escape from tarkov have noticed some really slow connections to the CDN server for Escape from Tarkov.

The traceroute doesn't show anything particularly incriminating, however what triggers my suspicions is that when I use a server I have in another location in new zealand I get ~6MBS where I get ~30kbs (at most) from my home connection, and I have a much much longer traceroute.

Here is the trace route for my connection:

traceroute to cdn-02.escapefromtarkov.com (117.18.232.131), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets
1 fritz.box (192.168.178.1) 0.438 ms 0.539 ms 0.658 ms
2 69.7.69.111.static.snap.net.nz (111.69.7.69) 6.000 ms 6.178 ms 6.164 ms
3 as23655.auckland.megaport.com (43.243.22.16) 14.318 ms 14.846 ms 15.009 ms
4 as15133.auckland.megaport.com (43.243.22.48) 15.755 ms 16.427 ms 16.684 ms
5 * 117.18.232.131 (117.18.232.131) 17.022 ms 17.358 ms

The traceroute from my work machine is 13 hops and goes through Sydney.

Anyone else having problems with downloading the EFT client?

Edit: Adding client URI

Client URI:

Are you going to give us a URl to test?

Likely related to the slow Twitter thread, I don't think it's limited to 2degrees but likely something wrong with Edgecast CDN over the Auckland Megaport peering exchange.

Oh right sorry about that: http://cdn-02.escapefromtarkov.com/ClientDistribs/0.7.3.928_c72151a8-0e18-42f5-b6ce-732849c2fdd9/Client.0.7.3.928.zip Its the game client, however its an online only game. So I wouldn't worry about people getting upset your downloading it. Plus you can find the devs posting it all over the place in public.

Considering they use edgecast i wouldn't expect it to be too bad.

Edgecast have a POP in auckland, That's where snap are peering directly over megaport.

Vodafone and Spark peer with the sydney pop

http://cloudharmony.com/speedtest-for-edgecast:cdn

Not the best of tests as it's based on single touchpoints of small files but gets a solid 90% performance on my connections.

Ran the test:

Edit: I actually get varying results. This being the worst, with two errors, some being much better at around ~200Mb/s for the large, but also with some being as low as 30 Mb/s for the small files.

The random failures there tell me your likely getting bursts of loss. that would translate to slow speed as tcp scales back.

Ran the test a few times this morning, It has now stabilized at around 90% + of my connection speed.

The link to download from that CDN however still is very slow (30Kbs) on my connection and much better (6Mbs) on a different network.

Seems like whatever problem they had is only effecting certain files on the CDN. While the original client download is going slow, the newer update that was just released is going fast. Looks like something spooky is happening on that node, in any case.
