Just moved into a new property and was downgraded from Fibre to VDSL, I run a speed test and get 20.01Mbps download and 1.12 Mbps upload, is this expected? I'm sure at one stage that is what I was getting on normal ADSL2+

I have no landline or anything else plugged into the phone sockets other than the Orcon router.

I have opened a case with Orcon to ask for help but would like to know if this is expected speeds or if something can be done to improve it?

Thanks, this is the first time I have had VDSL so I didn't look at it and forgot about it, so for now it says I am 21KM's away from the exchange, that I'm hoping is wrong as I am in the heart of Manurewa in Auckland.

I have attached the line stats if anyone can point out something is wrong.

That is possible as the wiring could be old, I suspect a master filter was put in as the router did not work in the one bed room but does in the dinning room.

Where did you get 21km? 2.1 km sounds more likely if you know you are still connected directly to the main exchange, that was usually the cut-off distance before cabinetisation kicked in for suburban areas.

If you are really 2.1 km I'd say that's about all you can expect as it is at the cross over point where VDSL is usually beneficial over ADSL2+ .

Assuming the stats are right and theres no fault at play, 22/1.2 at 30db is actually rather good. Especially considering you don't look to be vectored and are in an urban area.

If you pass me address details I'll drill deeper into your neighbours and confirm if it looks faulty (seems unlikely based on your profile)
