So could you sign up for this, quit after 3 months and pay $149 cancellation fee? making it 1TB over 3 months for $149 ? D:

330+GB per month for 3 months and only costing $149 sounds like a deal.

i just signed up on wednesday (3rd sept). bring on the one terabyte. after a bizarre error, saying that there was a typo in my application and then me using their useless email support system to try get a response about how to re-enter details for application to get no useful response. without even a phone call, i was disconnected from orcon. then we had lift off at six on friday and hooked me up to slingshot teet.

whether it is simply that orcon's behavioural (not just p2p, you download too much in a certain time, they'll slow you down - that simple) management system has skewed my perception of the speed of broadband but this new slingshot connection is unbelievable. i have been since connected, CONSTANTLY downloading (from multiple sources) and getting all the time between 250 KB/s - 400 KB/s (in the space of about 12 hours i have downloaded round 12 GB). for a chch (aka non adsl2) connection, in my mind that is brilliant (hopefully it will last). what's more important here to realise is that i was normally only getting between 100 KB/s - 250 KB/s using roughly the same sources and circustances (eg seeds/peers, time of day).

if the promotion is still going i would thoroughly recommend connecting to slingshot (just be prepared to be frustrated with their useless customer support).

This is wrong. I'm in CHCH with Orcon and I'm on ADSL2. Just downloaded some drivers off intel.com @ 1.4MB/s. Get an ADSL2 modem and try your connection.. you might be surprised.

I got a cheap RTA1320 from TradeMe and it is half-bridged to my router/firewall box and speeds are great. They are so cheap because ISP's give them away for free. Kind of poor as a router if you open a lot of connections eg lots of Bittorrent but it's excellent as a modem if you let something else do the routing.
