Has any one else noticed really slow google maps via slingshot?

Google maps was ok at lunchime at work (via orcon) but was really slow at home via slingshot.

Is it the Slingshot proxy again? All other sites are ok

Yeah I find the Google Maps API is sometimes timing out when I connect to my site which runs the API.

off topic a bit I know but Google maps has been quite slow lately on my Windows Mobile via Vodafone 2G, I am not sure if this is due to Vodafone or other factors.

Yep - google maps is going slow on our 10Mb feed as well. Thought it was just firefox 3.5 originally (or are you all also running ff3.5?)

No. Just tried it in chrome and it is still loading while I am typing this. It was ok at work via Orcon. Strange.
The real problem is the maps on Geocaching.com and a wife who needs to know where the new caches are NOW....

Chrome now says "This webpage is not available"

There is no https option for maps.google.com to bypass the Slingshot proxy

Ok some more testing.
I have connected to a PC at work via VPN and remote desktop and used that PC to connect to google maps. Work PC is via ORCON and speedtest.net returned 21Mbits/sec Using IE it came up quickly and was usable. Facebook at home via slingshot is also unusable. Slingshot returned 7MBits/sec

I still don't believe it's the raw line speed it the issue.

Fixed It......

I was using OpenDNS to provide some level of content filter / domain blocking. Switched back to Slingshot DNS and sites are back to full speed.

Something to do with the cache still I guess
