All you can eat is very slow, downloads Telecom Go Large was 200KB/s, Telecom 40GB Plan was 800KB/s and Slingshot All You Can Eat is 45KB/s

I hope this is only a glitch in the system as this is not what I expected. As a minimum I would expect that it would be at least the same speeds as Go Large and the hint was that it would be faster.

you mean your plan on telecom 40GB FS/FS was only 800KBps? if that IS indeed the case you have a problem from WITHIN your house - modem, wiring etc etc

What are your ADSL line and sync stats?

I've been getting ~80kBps on torrents and HTTP/FTP downloads (sync at ~10Mbps, get ~900kBps from SS sources)

Problem is that sites like RS and MU along with usenet are unusable (~500 bytes per second)

Seems that anything not on or too low down their priority list is choked until the connection dies.

You realise download speeds are measured in Kilobytes per second and line speeds are measured in Megabits per second? 800KBps = 6.4Mbps.

AYCE looks like a failure unless they fix (it must be broken) their shaping methods. 40kB/s for a torrent at any time of day is absurd.

It's not broken, that's how slingshot operate.. you only need to read the ramblings of their retarded network engineer deanh or whatever his name is to realise this

I think the problem is they said they would be transparent at the start yet we havn't heard anything since the plan started, how is that transparent?

Hi these readings are from JDownloader and we don't have ADSL2 in our town but I thought that I would be as good as Go Large if not better. Hey I'm only getting 25KB/s now.

If these speeds are correct then I think that Slingshot could be misleading people in the service that they are getting.

I've noticed that if I start a MU download with no torrents running, I get ~30kBps.
Yet as soon as I start a torrent, it climbs to ~30kBps and the MU download slows to ~1kBps.

If I then stop the torrent, the MU download will slowly rise back up to 30kBps.

Yeah so far the speeds on this plan is:

HTTP Downloads: ~150KB/s
FTP Downloads: ~150KB/s
Rapidshare/Megaupload etc: ~30 KB/s
Torrents: ~30-80 KB/s

Less than satisfactory, the standard HTTP and FTP downloads from not filesharing sites is awful, downloads shouldn't be capped that far.

On the slingshot forums one of the staff at slingshot said that if you have a problem with the speeds on this plan ring the helpline and file a complaint and then they can see how many people have a problem. That is what i am going to do.

Ohh boy, I'm so glad I decided to stay with telecom and didn't jump ship to Slingshot A.Y.C.E. I was tempted but thought I'd wait and see what the comments were from people who had "taken the plunge"
