Hi there. I'm on Orcon for my mobile service, and recently I found out this guy likes me, and I didn't care at first (I didnt feel the same way), long story short, he told some people some stuff he shouldn't have, I got angry, and he calls me 20billion times to say sorry and wont stop calling. I've told him I'll only talk to him over text (that way I think about what I say rather than blurt it out) but he wont stop calling. Can I get Orcon to just block calls from his number but let texts go through? Or is that not possible? If its not possible network side, does anyone know a good program for my Nokia E63 to screen his calls?
When I had an HTC Viva running WM it had kaspersky AV I think and it had the ability to block calls and/or texts from certain numbers.

Thanks in advance.

I advise you to (if you want a network solution) first go here http://www.orcon.net.nz/support/content/nuisance_calls

Fill in the nuisance call form and hopefully they can do something. Be aware that all they really do is talk to the other person's telco provider (as far as I'm aware- thats all they claimed they could do for me) but hopefully, assuming the other party is in nz, something will come of it.

not sure what phone you have but android phones have apps that you can install to block certain numbers. As far as im aware Vodafone are advertising that they are the only company that can block numbers, not sure why.

That's because they have a new service called Vodafone Blacklist it allows to to block up to 20 people form sending you message's.

There is software out there that allows you to block phone calls and texts from any number. It also allows you to block all people who block there caller id.

Google is your friend have a look there is 30 day trails out there.

Assign a silent ringtone to the number could be a start.
If you do not pickup then he will stop.

Personally I would just be more assertive and explain that you don't want him to call you any more and that if he continues to attempt to communicate with you, you will ask Vodafone to Intervene.

More likely he can call you so much because he's got "Best Mates" and has added your number...

I talked to Orcon and they said because its a public holiday today they can't do much until Wednesday at the earliest.

Me and my best best best mate were watching dvds tonight and he started texting me again. Mate grabbed phone and plain out told him "Sam doesn't to talk to you anymore, leave him the F*** alone now! OK!?" He hasn't text back for a few hours. He must get the message but I think he'll start again tomorrow when my mate leaves. I think after the texts that were sent, it might be best if I get him blocked completely. Would the vodafone blacklist thing apply for Orcon too Johnr since they run on Voda's network? And thanks nakedmolerat, ill install that program tomorrow and see how it goes.

Only problem with that is emergency services call you with caller ID blocked. so you would actually find their calls rejected too, which isn't such a good look, lol.

Take along a friend and meet him for coffee. Talk with each other to solve the issues.
Why don't people talk face to face any more ?

Because meeting face to face would probably get me hit. lol. Plus some things are easier said than done.
Think of someone you were good friends with in HS. Imagine him coming out to you. Then him telling you he likes you. Then him making you feel bad/guilty because his "life is ruined and nothing without you and no one else but you" is going to do. Think of that b***hing going on for weeks then your bestie texts him off your phone basically telling him what you thought the whole time, which was to sod off. Then meet up with him at a Starbucks somewhere. Oh and that friend has anger issues. mhmm

To be fair, Sam, it was a good suggestion.

But after you've just explained it, It's not looking like an option.

Suggestion would be to just log it with orcon, and failing that, there is a program I installed on my mums phone (cost $2.99NZ from the Ovi Store) and it works perfectly on her E63. I will get you the name tomorrow.

Yeh that probably does sound like I was meaning it to be bad, thats not what I meant, sorry. I just tried to make it easier for him to see why it probably wouldn't be good in this situation.
