HI,

THis isn't a dig at Orcon, but had been planning to move to orcon for internet, but found out today that Orcon don't have any plans that are for just their broadband on the orcon + network.

I'm currently with Worldexchange, and was looking to move to orcon, cause they're unbundled the local exchange. I want to keep the home phone line with telecom though, and found out they don't do that.

Just wondering if anyone knew if this was a policy decision or a technical issue that that split of services can't be done?

Bit of both, AFAIK noone even bought up the idea of partial unbundling, and why would they when they can make you take the cashcow of PSTN service from them inorder to get broadband.

You will notice that telecom will not sell you broadband when you have the phone with anyone else either, so its not just limited to the freeloading unbundled ISPs

What you want to do isn't technically possbile.

Your MPF (copper pair from your home) has to terminate at the exchange on a single pirce of equipment. It can't terminate on Orcon's gear for internet and Telecom's gear for voice.

@ johnr - i can do what what i want with the internet, but the account holders don't trust anyone other than telecom .... i'm working on it .... but it'll take a while ....
