Just read the previous post about 2D's news release a couple of minutes ago.
Thought I should check 2D's website to see if there is anything new.
Surprise, I found something new again haha~~~

http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/me2u

But the service is not as I expected somehow, when I first read the title, I thought you can probably completely share all credit within a family or with a certain friend or between iphone ipads androids or etc, without all the txt etc..... And now how am I going to remember all the number to txt to, auto top up is probably a better option for some in my opinion.

Copy & pasted the following from 2D's website, for people who is too lazy to click on the link.

2degrees Me2U
Now you can share your Prepay credit with your friends and family on 2degrees with Me2U.*

Its free – simply text the 2degrees mobile number of the person you want to send credit to, then *, then amount to 6328 (ME2U) e.g. text ‘0228765432*10’ to 6328.

If you want to request some credit from a friend simply text their mobile number to 8263 (U2ME) i.e. text ‘0228765432’ to 8263.

It’s free in NZ and you can send up to 10 U2Me requests a month. Find out all you need to know about Me2U.

Ring Me
If you have run out of credit you can use the Ring Me Service** to send a request to a friend to ask them to give you a ring.

Its free in NZ and you can send up to 10 Ring Me requests a month.

Simply text the 2degrees number of the person you want to ring you to 7464 (RING). i.e. text ‘022XXXXXXX’ to 7464. Find out all you need to know about Ring Me.

MOBILE: Huawei P30
OTHER: Thinkpad E14 + Asus Vivobook + Intel NUC5i3 + A family of Raspberry Pi x 9 + Amazon Echo

Not that new but a great idea, 2Degrees seem a bit pants at promoting their stuff.

We've all seen the Rhys Darby ads but the cool stuff like this gets introduced with next to no fanfare

It's worth noting that (unlike normal prepay credit) Me2U credit has a 60day lifespan

It seems on TM, there is little number of $20 top ups, perhaps as they are small in value they get clicked off quick.

Do you think I would be able to do this:

List $20 top ups, state that credit to be transferred via ME2U topups, state the 60 day expiry, and list them for $15 each, which would undercut everyone else selling that denomination?

Is there any part of that TM or 2D may take issue with that you can see?

I need to offload a heap of credit, and this may be the best way for me to do it?

Put an ad on here! Some people might want cheaper credit.

Have done that just now. Will see how that goes before I put any on TM.

I may be totally wrong but I'm convinced that when I did a ME2U from a $20 sim that I was not going to use, to my main phone, in the amount of $15, that when the transfer went through it reset my 1 year credit expiry date to 1 year from that date. So if thats right, then it may be a good way to keep a number "live".

Me2u is the perfect way to keep a data sim topped up. All the bonus texts and calling rates stay with your primary number.

It would be cool if there was a merge of the ME2U and data pack purchase facilities in a new feature that lets you send a data pack to another connection . . .

Hi Scott

Salty's having a lie down atm. :)  Once the credit's transferred via ME2U you can add the data packs via the self care portal 'Your 2degrees' or text i.e. 'buy 3GB' to 233.

You can also have the packs added by calling Care on 0800 022022 who'll do it for you, however the 1st 2 are the preferred options.

Yup thanks I am well aware of how to achieve the objective, I was just throwing an idea into the ring that removes a step in the process you detail. With the iPads inability to TXT that isn't a topup option.
