nz speed test = 0.20 mbit (a month ago this was 11mbit

usa speedtest will not even complete!  gets 0.05mbit and fails

my speeds went downhill last week and now it's to the point I'm on what feels like broken dialup.  Guess I'll phone them, which is always a pleasure.  sigh

Have you checked your modems line stats, made sure no filters are faulty, or checked if there is any work being done on lines in your neighbourhood lately?

I lost all internet access for about an hour this morning.

My ADSL was still connected, and I could ping my Slingshot gateway, but that was it. Couldn't get through on their 0800 number either, it wouldn't ring at all.

Seems to be fine now though.

Yep today and ever since since the 9th, I am currently hooked into the dial up until the broadband is back up as it was....considering some of us have been upgraded automatically to Hs/Hs this dial up is going faster

It has been ok for me here in Nelson but I am only on adsl 1 so don't get the best speeds as it is. But I have been able to stream YouTube (360p) ok.

The internet was working when I left for work about 9 ish

slingshot fullspeed / highspeed today:
the result says slower than 73% of nz

unfortunately slingshots network status page does not mention any outage, which sadly isnt surprising when previously slingshot customers on a particular exchange a while ago ALL experienced problems and the CSR's said theres no indications of other users having problems, fortunately when the customers chatted amongst each other they all found out they all had problems and upon telling slingshot that finally the exchange was repaired.

This has been getting worse and worse,  A month or so ago I was getting 15mbps and now .5mbps.  My line stats are 19174/956 Kbps and I'm on a fs/fs plan.

there was a definate outage this morning, affected our fibre connection as well as what they showed as affected on their network status page (props to callplus for actually updating the page!). Problems with the 0800 number were likely to be from overloading. I managed to get through and speak to someone who told me everyone was running around trying to fix stuff...

Tell me you weren't testing to a local New Zealand Speedtest site with a latency that high!

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

wifi connections can have latency all over the grid.  especially if you turn on the microwave nearby.  i'd do a wired connection to get a realistic picture.
