I recently switched my current ISP to Slingshot, I signed up on the date 27/12/11 however this is getting ridiculous. I am still waiting for the broadband connection to switch. My phone lines been half done (as they say " Your international calling is now with Slingshot but your local calling is still in process of changing.)
I called a Customer Representative and they tell me they're waiting for Telecom. I've had no email/contact ever since and am now getting fed up.
Has anyone had this when they signed up to Slingshot?

Couldn't have picked a worse time to sign up, during the holidays.

For what its worth I signed up to AYCE on Monday and will apparently be connected by the 18th - I don't really care if it doesn't happen as its only a secondary connection, still using Telecom as the primary

Yes, I had that experience, emailed scott page and he sorted it out.

There seems to be problems when switching from non-telecom providers.

I hope the new chorus will make things better.

From what I've heard Chorus' brown out only ended today

Also, they will most likely be busy with restorative work because of the bad weather + back log of requests over the brown out period

Usually for Homeline its a few days Tolls a few days on top and Broadband up to 10 days ontop of that.
Unless theres problems and I've seen it take a month at worst case I've seen.
Around 0.1% of connections take a month.

It can certainly still happen fast, but is definitely hit n miss during this time.

I had the same problem as well. Signed up on the 20/12/11. I got an email the next day to say that all my toll calls were now going through them. Great I thought. They're onto it.

I then got a bill on the 23/12/11 for $101.00 to be paid by the 27/12/11. At the time I thought they've got me set up or nearly set up to go. So I paid it. Thank goodness I didnt ring my old provider to tell them I had changed else they may have disconnected all my services. Mined you, I dont know how this side of it works though.

I've made 3 calls regarding my connection date. First 2 said because of the holidays bla bla (that really isnt an excuse. It's only 4 days) it was still being schedule. On my 3rd call, they couldnt give the holiday speech cause it was on the 11/1/12 and it had already been 15 actual working days, I was told that the delay was due to a technical problem which effected some BB connections and unfortunately one was mine. He said he didnt know how long it would take. I asked so like are we talking days, weeks, months???? but he didnt know. Really started losing faith in Slingshot by then. Was planning to give them a call on Monday 16/01. If still no joy, was going to cancel and ask for my money back. I got an email on Friday 13/01 saying that everything is scheduled for Tuesday 17/01/12. Yeeee haaaa!

What really gets me though is why are they billing before everything is connected. You can be assured ill be expecting a credit on my next monthly account, which is due to be generated 6 days after I am connected. What the ....................

I think what you're missing here re. holidays is not everyone works through. There will be reduced numbers of contractors on the road over xmas/new years and maybe beyond.
