Been having speed issues since mid November and hoped with school returning it would ease up and we would get better speeds. Changed from naked dsl 25gb plan to naked dsl unlimited and speeds have dropped in considerably.
Just completed the slingshot online speed tests and pings but noticed it could take weeks before I here back this is disappointing as I can no longer watch streaming from my favorite news sites shown is the latest speed test.
The latest speed test show's, download 960kbs- upload 632kbs- ping 42ms have tried with two differant modems and got the same results. very disappointing.

How do you know this is a Slingshot issue?

What basic fault checking have you done?

The bad speeds occurred after the change from naked dsl 25Gb to naked dsl unlimited we were told we would lose the off peak downloads which was fine but not told about massive speed reduction I went onto the slingshot web site and went through the Speed Issues form to submit a problem but read on their site it could take weeks to test.

Download speed : 11296 kps (1412 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload speed : 985 kps (123.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
    Packet: loss 0%
    Jitter: 0 ms
    Latency: 39 ms
   Test server: nz-akl

That's faster than I get, but then I have two walls between my computer and the router (wireless)

You do realise you just moved onto a throttled plan? Speed decreases should be expected on an unlimited plan, how do you think they offer such a service?

Can you watch a video on presstv.ir or rt.com when I try to watch they stop to load so much they can't be watched most videos on youtube are the same. Seems to be a problem with streaming from overseas sites.
The speed test results from Speednet test are Download 960kb/s Upload 632kb/s Ping 42ms ISP Callplus Services Lt server Auckland (< 50mi) Grade D (Slower than 80% of NZ) and these two sites and youtube worked well on the naked dsl 25Gb plan.

Streaming video from international sites is a typical problem for unlimited plans, Youtube should be fine if it is a cached video, if its really obscure videos on youtube and your the first to watch it, yes it will be slow and have to buffer.

So on a throttled plan you have to give up watching streaming video from oversea sites never knew that.

Your problem is most probably your connection. Before you start looking at the ISP you need to look at your modem, internal wiring, and possibly whether you're cabinetised and/or on a ULL connection.

The first step is to post your modem ADSL sync stats and whether you're on a ULL or wholesale connection, and served from a cabinet or exchange. You can tell this by looking at chorus.co.nz/sat

Well can't go back to the older plan and the new 30gb plan no longer has off peak downloads so guess it,s time to shop around thanks for all the info guy,s.

I seem to be connected to a cabinet with VDSL2 i have tested the connection with two different modems a tp-link
TD-W8960N and NB6Plus4Wn Netcomm with the same results have tested at the point of entry disconnecting all other wiring in the house .
Are these the adsl sync stats;

The exchange is in New Plymouth so guess its wholesale connection.

Made a call to slingshot in December and they said the line was fine and at that time the slow speeds were probably heavy use
from school holidays.

What Server did you test from, these are the sort of speeds I would expect from strange places around the world, National speeds should be close to line rates, International speeds usually are a lot less then line rates depending on network load.

I got the international test from slingshots website I followed through their steps doing a speed test with netstats ping,s etc that test was from a link on their site testing from Auckland.

I have logged a speed issue ticket through slingshot,s site and will have to wait I guess ,the incident management team
current turn around 10 business days or less. I hope it,s less . Just waiting for a ticket number from slingshot.
